Easter weekend

The site is immaculate and a credit to the wardens. The pitches are generous and there is a sense of space. We had a lovely view over the estuary. There are lots of opportunities for touring around the Lakes and Arnside.  My only gripe is that there is little opportunity to let the dog off the lead as there are few dog walks apart from walking on tarmac.

Easter weekend

Just spent an extended Easter weekend at Meathop. The site is a credit to the wardens and team, site itself is very well kept and the toilet block looks like it should be in a hotel it is so clean and neat. Nearby is the woodlands hotel which has a bar and resteraunt open to non residents  Down side, WiFi , yet again the Wi-fi was not working properly ( due to line fault) , yet another let down by the club , we have yet to visit a club site where it works properly Come on Caravan Club either sort it out or include in the pitch. Fees but don't charge £2.50 per day for a service you are not able to deliver

First trip of the year....

Decided to use Meathop Fell for the first trip this year as it is less than an hour from home and was good last year. The facilities are excellent, the staff pleasant and helpful and the site easy to access apart from bottoming out on the hill! As others have stated, £27:00 a night is a high price to pay just for a pitch and when the weather is as bad as it was for us, March 20th, one doesn't venture out to the local pub. Stiil, a pleasant stay at a very well run site.

worth a revisit

A stop-over for me in campervan, but worth a longer stay. Arrived on a sunny day - but awoke to snow! So bit of a long walk to loo block.

Great for new caravanners

This was our first proper trip and we were behind schedule which made us late and it was dark. .The staff were really helpful and got us pitched as soon as possible. The site is spotlessly clean and in a lovely location.  Dog friendly pub and nice to walk around the area (despite the rain). I was worried about the reviews stating the access road was difficult but there are plenty passing places and the incline isn't too bad. Will be back soon.

disappointed

We and another couple who have a caravan have stayed on this site for many years and always enjoyed - however recently the site has increased its fees to £27.00 per night - this is quite high and we feel not warranted as the site although very peaceful and good toilet block it does not have anything else to attract such as a well stocked shop, entertainment etc - very disappointed as we have been regular customers with our friends for a long time - not sure we will continue as rate to high.

Recent Stay

We are new to caravanning, and chose this site for our first trip by recommendation from our friends. It couldn't have been better. The wardens were very friendly and helpful. The site is wonderful- peaceful, tranquil, we'll run and maintained. People staying at the site were more than willing to offer much needed advice and help, for which we are very grateful. We will be able to pass our new knowledge on to other newbies!  Thank you everyone for the welcome, we are sold on it, and making our second trip to another club site next week. Just excellent. Excellent

Friendly

Spent a delightful week here and the location is ideal for the South Lakes. Would definitely return and highly recommend it to others. Good walks close by and The Priory at Cartmel well worth visiting. Staff helpful and friendly. Had wifi problems for a time but it was eventually resolved.

Super Site.

Stayed here last week, very impressed with the friendly staff and well maintained facilities. Cycled into Grange and then on to Cartmel - nice quiet roads with a few challenging climbs. Good access to all areas of the Lake District. Will definitely return to further explore the area.

Meathop Vist

Stayed for a Sunday to Sunday visit, mid March 2015. Pleasant location with the usual high standard of presentation and cleanliness we have come to expect from the Club. Well located for exploring South Lakes and North Lancashire. Woodlands Hotel, a short walk, provides good food. Some pitches are sloping, even hardstandings, so be sure to bring levelling ramps. Main downside is the access from A590, which is very narrow and with high unprotected embankments. Beware. meeting a caravan coming in the opposite direction can be challenging, indeed somewhat hazardous. For this reason, the Club should discourage caravans leaving the Site late in the day. We met two exiting around 3.30pm.
