After returning from a 4 night stay at Meathop Fell my wife and I are fully refreshed after staying at such a peaceful and tranquil site. The site is ideally located for walks or trips to the lakes. All staff are extremely friendly and always willing to help. The facilities onsite are well maintained. We can highly recommend the Woodlands Hotel which is situated within a few minutes’ walk from the site; the food is very good with excellent staff. The woodlands is also dog friendly.
First outing of 2015
Second visit to this site and again did not disappoint. Friendly staff and as usual friendly caravanners. Weather great on our stay which is always a bonus. Local area very good for visits. Will definitely be back.
Rest and relaxation every time!
My husband and I have visited the site on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. The pitches are well laid out and the toilet blocks are spacious, warm and very clean. The staff are friendly and most welcoming. We arrived on a sunny Friday afternoon and decided to visit the nearby Woodlands hotel for dinner which was excellent. We usually need a torch to see our way back, but this time there were thousands of stars to light the way, uncluttered by artificial lighting. Two owls were having a chat overhead, which added a magical feel to the end of a perfect day. Kendal is nearby and boasts some really good shops. A visit here on Saturday left us laden with goodies, and was followed by a walk along the promenade in Arnside, watching the trains navigate the estuary bridge and onto Grange. Would I visit again? Yes, can't wait to return.
Peace and tranquility guaranteed!
Having just spent 4 relaxing nights at The Meathop Fell site, I can certainly recommend it. The amenities were all very clean and well maintained, the wardens were helpful and unobtrusive unless you needed them. We had a beautiful view over Morecambe bay and were lulled to sleep with the sound of the Owls at night. An easy site to find and access, following the CC directions. Grange over Sands is a lovely old Victorian sea side town with shops, pubs and a fantastic butchers. We had a great afternoon over the bay in Arnside, we walked up the Knot and had a pint in the Albion overlooking the bay, a nice end to our stay.
Peace and quiet guaranteed
As the title suggests a lovely peaceful, quiet site ( apart from the owls!) Stayed here for a short weekend break- only 30 mins from home. Site well kept and facilities second to none! Staff friendly, helpful and welcoming. One to add to the list!

I'll be back
I cannot fault this site - I visit this site many times because it is well located, easily accessed, quiet and an easy site to stay on for an arthriticy old duffer like me who rocks up on her own with a dog. The showers etc are immaculate - the staff are helpful and friendly - what more does anyone want?
Second visit in winter
This is, in my opinion, an excellent site. A friendly welcome awaited me and the location; just a few miles from Grange Over Sands and the Lake District is superb. The facilities were modern and clean with plenty of hot water for showering!
The one local pub/ restaurant, which is probably a 5 minute stroll away is dog friendly and so I returned later on in the evening to savour their steak ... Delicious and cooked exactly to my liking!
Shortbreak
Second visit to this site but the first at this time of year. The site was still tidy and washroom facilities up to usual standard. Meathop Fell is a very pleasant and peaceful site to visit with the added bonus of the nearby lakes, will certainly visit again.
1st Trip in 2015
Returning to Meathop in Feb was superb, booked in no worries and the site was full due to it being on the back end of a school holiday.Ourselves and 2 x friends managed to get near to each other yet it was a bit weird why the site doesn't allow awnings on the 1st pitches on the right when entering the site as it seemed like there was more than enough space.Anyway it was as it always is lovely quiet and peaceful,we stopped on till 3pm at no extra cost and left just after 3 as per the wardens request, this is to stop traffic jams and keep the traffic down to a minimum when passing the houses on the steep brow.A bit of good advice when leaving the site and just before you pass the cottage on the left have a look to your left in front of the cottage towards the long bumpy road that leads to the bypass, this will allow you to see if there are any vans coming to the site and allow you to let them through without causing a jam.
Hope this is helpful and "Happy Days".JATABB
