Quiet Site

In spite of there being 178 pitches the site was very quiet.   It is in a good location to visit attractions in the area.   The pitches are sited over a large area and with pitches in the centre it made it difficult to locate a vacant site especially having to drive around with the van in tow searching.  The toilets were very narrow and the showers in the top block were very close to the wall. To get under the shower head moving close to the wall also meant close to the hot water supply pipe, rather dangerous.  Also it seems that one toilet block serving 178 pitches was a bit much.  The wardens were all very helpful the site was clean and tidy and shop was adequate.

All those miles, then a Traffic Light

Could not believe it, after taking us 5 hours towing to get there, around hair pin bends though Cornwall's lanes in the dark, we had to stop for the red traffic light, well we fell about laughing, and that was the start of a really Great 6 night stay, loved the site, wardens really funny and helpful, I think we should all be offered a "GO" on the Tractor Lawn Mower thing, it's Boys with their Toys for the Male Wardens, Fish & Chip night, I never seen anything like it, the whole Site must have turned out, at one point the "Happy Fryer's" thought they might run out of fish, Fantastic Site, Lovely location, Clean, and has a Happy Feel to it.

september

We have not visited Merrose Farm Site for some 30 or so years and were not disappointed.     Exceptionally clean, very welcoming staff and everything one needed for a quiet rural holiday.

Pleasant site

Stayed here for 5 nights and overall pretty pleased, very clean, super reception staff, nice things like the information hut with lots of books and DVD,s, well stocked shop ( take note Looe ) peaceful and well located for St Mawes. Some pitches were a little borderline on soft ground and hedgerows were in need of some work. The only other gripe was the toilets, spotless but very narrow and the huge toilet roll dispensers made access for some a bit tight to say the least. Would we come again ? a big yes.

A lovely break

We stayed at Merrose 11th to 19th September. It is a lovely site with well-kept facilities. The site was fully booked with no hard standing available, as we prefer the grass this was fine for us! The wardens were friendly without being intrusive. We liked the large dog enclosure as it gave us a chance to meet other guests rather than just the neighbours whilst our dog socialised and made lots of doggy friends. The information board had lots of relevant information including the bus timetable, with a note on where to stand and wait for the bus to go in each direction. The information room was well stocked with leaflets and money off offers and also with books and DVDs to hire. We went for a relaxing do nothing break so didn’t have too many outings, we visited Mevagissey, St Mawes, Portscatho and went on the King Harry floating bridge to get to Falmouth. We spent a couple of afternoons on the Pothcurnick beach and found the “Hidden Hut” for tea and delicious cakes. We have not been to the Roseland area before but will definitely be returning.

lazy dog owners

this is a brilliant site but some users treat it with contempt. Some dog owners allowed their dogs to foul the green areas between pitches one owner of five retrievers particularly so. I also saw a motor homer user draining the waste water tank on to his pitch before departing.  The staff at this site were very friendly and helpful and they also work very hard to maintain this site its a pity that some visitors dont help maintain the standard the staff try to maintain

Beware the Purple Pitch Marker

We stayed for 3 nights during 2nd week of September. When we arrived all the hardstandings were taken so we had to stay on a grass pitch which I wouldn't have a problem with normally but the only grass pitch that was left was a sloping pitch that was surrounded by other pitches making it difficult to access, especially with a large motorhome. In my opinion it shouldn't have been a pitch. During the first evening we discovered that a hardstanding that was virtually next to us was going to be available the next day so we moved onto it the following day which was the Saturday morning. We noticed all round us that purple marks were either put on the white peg or a purple peg was placed next to the white one. As these pitches were vacated a cone or other items were placed on the pitches. We found out that these pitches were being reserved for people that had booked a 6 week stay at a very much lower rate than the standard cost which is great for the people that are able to stay for 6 weeks. However if you want to stay for a week or a couple of nights your choice of pitch is limited as a lot of the pitches had been made unavailable by the wardens or in a way reserved for the six week special deals. I was always under the impression that you weren't able to reserve pitches in the CC but its obviously ok for the wardens to do it (which we also experienced in Looe last year). We liked the site location, the facilities and we didn't have any issues with any of the wardens but this policy needs some looking into. In my opinion if you're staying for 6 weeks and paying less than half per night you should expect to have to move to a better pitch when one becomes available as we had to.

Quiet site

Disappointing welcome from wardens. Arrived with club site night vouchers to use and the wardens did not appear to want to take them. When asked about bus times we were just told to look on the info board which I then had to photograph so we could plan our day. Water was not as hot as it could be. Would not use a site where these wardens are working again.A complete contrast to the wonderful welcome we had at Looe club site

Great location

Well we arrived expecting poor weather and got sunshine instead, as always the site is perfect beautifully looked after. The close proximity of coastal path, beach St Mawes delightful, then there's the King Harry ferry and beyond. We'll be back later!!

wet week

Well what can I say another brilliant stay at Merrose, apart from the weather but that can't be helped. We stayed earlier this year than theprevious years, the site was fine plenty of room but every where else was alittle bit to busy for us.but apart from that very good
