Everything you need

Spent week as this site. It's was so clean so well looked after. It's credit to is staff. Would return in flash. The toilet block is 5 star modern and warm. The setting is amazing views of the castle views of the snowdon national park. And the sea close by. Beaches are good for dogs. Well the the left.

Immaculate

What an immaculate site.  Pitches were in perfect condition, weeded and edges trimmed almost daily. All pitches are fully serviced, this is the first time we have used a fully serviced pitch and we felt thoroughly spoilt.  The toilet block was outstanding, best I've seen. Immediate site access was good for all sized vehicles but this is Wales remember and access via all road routes are subject to the odd hill and odd tight bend but nothing too precarious. Barmouth is just up the coast a few miles and is probably the biggest/closest town.  Harlech itself, sadly, is a little tired and run down albeit has a beautiful castle and the most amazing beach. Miles and miles of flat sandy beach, half of which is dog friendly all year round.  When we went (first week in July) there was hardly a soul on 4 miles of sand.  The site has the backdrop of Harlech castle on one side, Royal St David's Golf Course on the other (which you walk through for about 5 minutes to the direct access to the beach) and the mountain ranges in the distance over to Snowdon.  Lovely play area for children, looked almost brand new, and a fab little enclosed dog area which was perfect for our two lurchers who can never be let off the lead for fear of them running away.  The fact we could let them off as the dog area was completely enclosed was ideal for them.  Perfect and peaceful site.

Class on it's own

This site is immaculate, the toilet facilities are 5 star+ with all pitches being flat and complete with water and waste drain. The site is immaculate and well laid out. Access to the beach, golf and local baths within walking distance. Premier shop just down the road that also does takeaways. I'll be returning next year for sure.

5* touring at its best!

WE stayed at Min Y Don for 5 nights over the spring bank weekend. From check in to check out everything was fantastic, polite friendly wardens, large spacious pitches, very well manicured gardens, the nicest toilet/shower block I have ever encountered, great play area for the kids, close to a lovely beach, shop local, a very scenic and peaceful location. Will certainly be returning, this was probably the best site we have stayed on in the UK, and there have been quite a few weekends away!! The only suggestion I could make is to install a EHU and water tap for late arrivals use, other than that..perfect! Oh, and 'Dewi' the dragon is so enchanting against the backdrop of Harlech Castle, love love love it!!

Great Sands!

Our first visit and really enjoyable. Lovely to walk to the sand only 10 mins away and the beach was empty. The site is clean and the staff very friendly. Very windy all the time we were there though. Harlech Castle is worth a visit and if go a little further afield Bodant Gardens (National Trust) are probably the best gardens we have ever been to visit. Barmouth is a lovely little seaside town and on a sunny day is well worth a visit Four days here was enough for us.

Beautiful North Wales

The views from this site are stunning. Harlech Castle sits on the hill, above. In the distance, you can clearly see Snowdon and the surrounding mountains (provided it's a clear day, of course). You enter the site past all the static caravans, to the touring area. It is very formally laid out so it is clear where your pitch is and the roads are all good quality tarmac. Drainage is a bit of an issue following heavy rain. All the pitches have hardstanding, electicity, water and grey water drainage. I would say the pitches could benefit from being a little bigger, to accommodate awning and car alongside the caravan, instead of the car in front. The toilet block was excellent, always clean. The way it is designed, it never has to be closed for cleaning as it can be sub-divided. All entry is by card, a little inconvenient if you forget to carry the card with you. The pitches were spotless and we noticed that, as soon as a pitch was vacated, the pitch was cleaned and tidied up - weeds removed, grass trimmed and all chippings from the hardstanding removed from the grass. The site is a little remote - quite a distance from any areas of interest. Harlech itself is dreadful (sorry Harlech), very run down and I would say they are not interested in visitors. The shop at the end of the road is very expensive, but it is the only one within 10 miles. The beach is fabulous, about a quarter of a mile from the site, 4 miles long with golden sand. Walking on the beach was a real pleasure, even in high winds, with wonderful views all round. The train station is very near the site but you cannot hear the trains. The whole area is beautiful - wherever you go, the views and the scenery are stunning. We spent a lovely sunny day touring the Llyn peninsula - go all the way to Aberdaron. By contrast, at the top of Snowdon we could hardly see our hands! Luck of the draw. Consider visiting Penrhyn Castle - the interior is amazing and quite unexpected.

One of the best

Location: Beach Rd, directly below Castle Site: big site, mainly hol.homes, separate touring area, all HS, EHU, very tidy, EXCELLENT site, free WiFi, great views of Snowdon. Fantastic toilet block Off site: 10 min from town, not impressed with Harlech, limited cycling opportunities in such a flat area (come on Wales, sort out your cycle routes). Harlech town itself very disapointing and needs the local community to deal with this as a great opportunity being missed. Cannot fault the site itself. All very helpful, and probably one of the best UK sites we have visited and for that we would return. Well done Min y Don , but with this standard of touring facility you should really be open all year.

Great welcome

Site is easy to find, but use the directions in the handbook, unless you want to end up in narrow streets. Harlech itself is rather run down. The site is exactly the opposite.  When you arrive, the welcome is brilliant and the young lady that served us was brimming with enthusiasm. There is a large metal dragon outside the site, which has no relevance to this report but you must go, just to see this. Pitches are flat and well drained. Ours was fully serviced. The toilets are probably the best we have ever been in. Access to the beach is out of the site and down the road, of which there are miles of it. There is a shop outside the site for basics. We would visit the site again if in the area.

Excellent facilities

This is a beautifully kept site with superb facilities...modern and clean. The site is well located near the beach and overlooked by the castle.the walk to the village however is a steep climb. We would just say we went out of season in March and to be honest Harlech seemed closed.  Things improved towards the weekend with a couple of superb restaurants but we failed to find a good pub.. The one in the town is about to get new management and the one nearest the site was very half hearted in its welcome, unable to do meals at 7 in the evening and  with a noisy television watched by nobody dominating the bar. (rant over)But the site and area is great!
