We spent the late May Bank holiday here with friends in order to visit the Hay festival but also to have some relaxing time. The site managers are friendly and helpful and maintain the site to a high standard. The mobile phone signal is very poor on site which depending on your view is a good or bad thing. We took a nice walk ( approximately 5 miles round trip ) from the site via the Orchard to the Portway Inn on the edge of Staunton on Wye village. Excellent Sunday lunch and surprisingly quiet.
Peaceful site
We booked four nights here with the purpose of attending various events at the Hay Festival, punctuated by some pleasant rural rest and relaxation.
We were not disappointed. The site is well laid out on the site of an old railway station, and all is well maintained. Friendly, helpful and clearly diligent wardens, as evidenced by spotless facilities. We look forward to returning.
Relaxing break
We have just returned home from a Bank holiday break at this site. We can only say what a beautiful, well maintained site it is. The site managers arre friendly, welcoming and very knowledgeable and nothing is too much trouble. The site is extremely well managed and the flowers are especially lovely. We found this site by chance as we are relative 'new comers' to motor homing and we'll definitely be back. Thank you Ann and Paul.
Nice Peaceful Site
Lovely quiet site, very tidy and clean. A nice walk to the local pub in Staunton on Wye through the apple orchards. I scored low on "good for families" as there is no place for children to play, no local play area either and the walk to the local village may be too far for the smaller generation.
Great, peacful site.
We booked last minute on the Sunday before Bank Holiday. On arrival, still a number of pitches available. Staff were really helpful and polite. Great site for walks in the local area. Would definitely visit again - highly recommended. lovely clean site and facilities were spotless. Easy access.
George Harrison
Spent a nice Easter weekend at this small but well kept site. The wardens were very helpful and are a credit to the Club. However, the absence of site-wide wifi, poor tv reception and no mobile phone signal was a disappointment. Would be a big plus if these issues could be rectified on this site.
Great Stay at Easter
Great stay over the Easter Weekend Thursday to Monday. Nicely located and extremely well kept quite a small site and generally very peaceful.Joan and Colin as wardens were superb. Very very helpful and very welcoming. Nice hot showers and lovely and clean. We will definitely return again
Wardens
I have to add a 2nd review.
After travelling around Wales for 3 weeks, the wardens here were not beaten.
They always made time to talk, were always helpful and could not do enough to make sure you were ok and knew directions to travel and places to go.
This was on top of daily duties.
Pity they could not run all the sites......
Thanks Clive, Louise & Abbey
Cheese
Great site with great wardens.
Local cheese making should not be missed.
Easy area to travel and plenty to do.
Our puppy barked and someone moaned about it, as to noisy....
relaxed & Peaceful
Lovely place to relax in. Great location for some countryside exploring. Add Weir Gardens (NT) to your places to visit.
Site and facilities kept immaculate by two dedicated and friendly wardens.
Although we tow, we chose to use the hourly bus service from the very close-by bus stop, for a day trip to Llandrindod Wells. Great value ( seniors card usable for the English part of journey) and superb views even though only single deckers.
This is our second visit to Moorhampton in ten years and somewhere we will visit again.
