Another enjoyable stay!

Outstanding campsite with fantastic staff. We had a great 3-night stay, ( our third time) this time with younger family-members staying in one of the Experience Freedom pods. We rather agree with the reviewer who suggests changing the system for finding a pitch - most of them are quiet just a few nearest the road suffer the noise problem mentioned in another review. The staff maintain this site to an amazing standard - we saw them cleaning the cobwebs off the electric plug-in stands and most pitches are hard-standing and very spacious. TV-aerial plug-in available too: (don't hope for this in France!) We shall aim to come here every year as it is splendidly situated and such an enjoyable experience. One suggestion: put a floor-mat inside the washing-up area ( as in the toilet/shower entrances) so that when it is raining we don't mess up your beautifully clean floors! Congratulations and thanks to a star team. David Morris & family (stayed late July 2022)

Time for the Club to bite the bullet

Love this site, been many times. This time arrived around 12.50 and joined a queue of fellow members waiting for 1pm as ' we are not allowed to let you in before then'. The wardens were doing their best to stop Club traffic backing up onto the main road but insisted and holding us back until the allotted time. Well done the wardens on handling this but they are treating the symptoms not the real problem. This site has many cut-de-sac type pitch areas, it also has many good quality pitches and equally many tired looking pitches, plus perimeter pitches that back onto the noisy main road. When I joined the 1pm rush onto site members were all over the place seeking good pitches. It wasn't long before vans were trying to reverse out of cut-de-sacs having found no pitch available and then speeding to the next area. This is an ideal site to for the Club to test pre-booked pitches where members can select their pitch on line ahead of time. This would take pressure off those of us wanting to arrive early for the best choice, it would stop members chasing available pitches and abortive trips into full cul-de-sacs, and may help those anxiously looking for a good pitch from speeding on site. There are other Club sites that should also be considered for such..Hillhead and Truro come to mind.

Good site, shame about the noisy road

Arrived on a Saturday and only spots available were next to the main road which is exceptionally noisy to the point we couldn’t have a conversation without having to repeat ourselves constantly. Hard standing pitch had recently been updated however no care taken to finish off the grassed area between pitches. Large potholes should have been filled in and reseeded. What grass there was, was full of nettles which I had to pull out at least 30 in a 4 SM area myself as dog kept stinging paws. Also a risk of injury going over on ankle which I did a few times. This let down an otherwise good site.

Great to be back lively wardens

Been a while … great to be back touring since Covid restraints. Been club members since 2008 . Arrived on a very busy weekday and was limited to pitch availability, very few hence such a popular site . We managed to secure what we could and managed to swap the following day for a more desirable pitch without any fuss thanks to the fantastic service by the lovely no -fuss wardens . So glad to be back and loving our touring after a short Covid break. Great site and great wardens . Thank you Bobby and Joanne Nagi x

Morton in Marsh - July 2022

Stayed here for 4 nights, this is a super busy site and unfortunately when we arrived we were on a pitch that backed onto the main road (114), as other reviewers have said there is some road noise, the road does quieten down at night and didn't disrupt our sleep. Agree with other reviewers that some of the pitches need attention and some pitches are more cramped than others. If you intend to put up an awning, make sure you have rock pegs as the ground is exceptionally hard. Fantastic and easy access into the little town, either on the path beside the main road or over the footpath which you access beside the dog walk and camping pods. Enjoyed a meal at the dog friendly White Hart Hotel and had a lovely indian from the Spice Rooms. There is also a takeaway service on site, with different vendors each night, we had a pizza one night and it was very tasty. Lots to do in the surrounding area and we look forward to returning.

Great Location.

Warm and welcoming reception on checking in ,have been before so good location into Morton, however have to agree about some pitches being cramped and not so well kept, lovely dog walk but at ten pm on the night we stayed it was over run with teenagers screaming and shouting so not able to use dog walk which did spoil our enjoyment of the site ,so sorry will not be back in a hurry.

Moreton-in-March - A great week there!

We decided it was time to visit the Cotswolds again. This time we pitched up at the Moreton-in-Marsh Caravan and Motorhome Club site. It’s a very pretty site. It is a short 5-minute walk into the Town itself and just a few minutes’ walk further on is a train station with connections to lots of popular towns and cities. There are lots of beautiful walks nearby as well as some great pub restaurants. Well worth a visit. You can see our youtube video of our stay here: https://youtu.be/1uR5QWLPfdc

A two sided site

Had our first visit to Moreton in Marsh site, and was filled with a little trepidation after reading some reviews. Arrived after the 1 o’clock rush, so no issues checking in, and found the staff in the office very patient and helpful. As the weather was glorious, we asked for recommendations for an available sunny pitch which turned out to be great. Two facility blocks with cleaning times in the afternoons were much more convenient. We walked around the site before walking into town, and was surprised to find that pitches in some areas looked cramped and in need of some tlc, whilst others looked to have been refurbished and in excellent condition. This is probably a timing issue as half we’re done and half were not, although all were flat. Walks to Moreton and Batsford were lovely and mentioned by other reviewers, and a reasonable bus service from town could take you to Stow on the Wold, Cheltenham or Stratford. We went to Bourton on the Water and really enjoyed our day there, helped by the fact we won the Duck race!! Moreton is a big site with lodges, yurts and tents available in another field. We had a good pitch, met some lovely people and the sun shined every day. It might not have been so good if our pitch was in the yet to be upgraded area, close to the main road …..

Very big, busy site; the cost of being popular!

I am no great fan of the Cotswolds; far too twee and moneyed for my taste. So, my visit to Moreton was due only to meeting up with a good friend with whom I once worked – for part of the time at Sezincote, close to Moreton, and possibly another reason why I am not keen. It was only my second visit to the site and the first for many years; yet I drove past it twice a day many times a few years ago.

The site remains just as busy as I remember it and, for me, it continues to engender the same cramped feeling that comes with sites that are both very large, with many pitches, and which are heavily populated with trees and hedges and other shrubbery. The layout, disorganised and lacking order (an absence of regimentation which I know is much beloved by some), adds to the sense of clutter and confusion. It is this that causes the complaint that it can be hard to locate a pitch. Sticking intransigently to the speed limit of 5 mph it took me over five minutes to exit the site, covering almost half a mile. It is a very large site and the way out quite a trip from some pitches. Would that others stuck to the speed limit. I saw a silver Mercedes on Saturday morning that must have been doing around 25 mph and this on a roadway far from straight and with blind bends. Imagine a young child cycling along unawares. It positively scared me. But this happens everywhere, sadly. It is just that so much of the roadway at Moreton is narrow and blind because of overuse of bushes and trees. The Club are soft on speeding, just as they are on early arrivals, and it is time something was done about it.

Some of the hard standing pitches, including the one I occupied, an awning pitch, remain very old and extremely rough and care worn not to mention very much smaller than newer pitches. There was a freshly restored non-awning pitch opposite mine which was significantly bigger - even allowing for the fact that a car with caravan and awning, on my pitch, would have to use the grass strip. It made for some unusual parking and some cars close to vans on adjacent pitches, but luckily not in my case. I do not blame the Club for taking time to perform upgrades, especially after the hiatus of Covid. But I am reviewing a site, and people should know what to expect. There are still a goodly number of pitches here that are well below standard.

The site is good for motorhomers in that the town is easily reached with a very short walk and there are buses and trains to go further afield. The site’s size and popularity also mean that there are numerous fast-food outlets visiting giving pretty much total coverage of the week.

I know the site is very popular and that people love the Cotswolds. I get it totally, but it is just not for me.

Great site but poor check in

Its a lovely site and we had a good time, but the check in process requires more patience than you might have after a long journey as you drive around trying to find a pitch that is free. Not being familiar with the layout on arrival, had to leave the car/caravan walk back to reception and get the map market up with the few free pitches and even then my wife had to stand there to stop someone else taking it. As long as you know this it will be fine.
