Wonderful views

As always this site doesn't disappoint on the views. Can be windy at times but the views are always there even on bad days and we did have one. Despite what 'alwaysannoyed' has said the toilet block (there is only one) was fine. We never saw a queue, the site was full the whole time we were there. The ladies had 2 arm bands and the gents had 3 arm bands. The facilities were spotless and people did respect the Covid rules. The cycle ride along the cliff top and into Whitley was invigorating due to the windy conditions but as usual not to be missed. Fish and ships from the chip shop at Seaton Sluice are worth the wait (always busy) Have used this site before and will use again. The wardens are friendly and helpful.

Tyne&wear coast line up through northumberland just gets better had to try the best chippy at seaton sluice plus best pint of abbot at kings arms once again, just like to thank chap in bailey caravan for helping me with alignment of 13pin plug after struggling for 15min see you next year folks already booked.

Fantastic Site, Excellent location, Toilet Facilities... Spot on!

What a site... Perched on the cliff top overlooking the sea, perfect, warm welcome and all the necessary Covid stuff explained. ‘always annoyed’ take note!! During our 5 day stay we only had to wait twice for access to the shower block, a small price to pay for such a fantastic site and helping keep everyone safe. We shall return!!!

Our Third Visit to Good Old Hartley

We love this site, the location is great the pitches offer brilliant views, it allows for searching the area for very interesting places to visit, the bus routes are very convenient running about every 15 mins, going both North and South. Whitley Bay is a good walk taking you either along the sands or if you will along the cliff tops or even along the road. Our Beagle preferred the sands and the sea! The Wardens were very approachable, informative and very friendly with a very good sense of humour, which we loved. We felt very safe here, and as Arnold says. we Will Be Back (soon).

Beware - only one person allowed in single toilet block at a time

As the title. There's nothing on the website to tell you that only one facilities block is open, and only one person can access it at a time. This is terrible news if your on board facilities aren't in use, or you don't have any. I would never have booked if I'd know. If you have any kind of IBS you are in trouble. And a shared rubber band 'token' to enter is not a good idea.

New Covid 19 regulations - Access to the toilet and washing facilities

If you are not worried about infection control then come to this site. Since opening again in July 2020 a new system has been introduced to access the toilet facilities, apparently by the wardens of this site which is absolutely rediculous! The gents facilities are closed and everyone is to access the ladies toilets, one person is allowed in at one time and a band is left outside the toilets and if it is available you take the band into the toilet with you and replace it on the hook outside the toilets when finished. Everyone on the site uses and picks up the same band, so potentially infection can spread very easly here, I wont be returning to this site until this implement a better system. At other sites you are issued a band each on arrival and hang it up outside the facilities, so you are the only one using this band for the duration of your stay and then they are sanitized, why havent old hartley done the same. I was told by the relief wardens they have done things differently here because bands were going missing, so is the club more worried about the cost of a few bands instead of the safety of their guests!

Great location by the sea

Old Hartley site is small but beautifully sited on the cliff above the beach. Each pitch on site gets a lovely view of the sea and St Mary's lighthouse. There are cliff top paths in both directions and lovely beaches to explore within minutes from the site. Grass got a bit muddy after a lot of rain but managed to get off OK on departure.

A Great site in great location

We visit this site regularly so are very familiar. It is a great location with fantastic views from almost every pitch. If you are not familiar read up about site before visiting. Entrance is from direction of Deleval Arms Pub on a roundabout at Old Hartley. There is quite a steep slope throughout. Pitches are gravel patches surrounded by grass they are quite small but adequate. Best to park up and have a quick look at available pitches. You will need chocks for most of them. Site is quite exposed to wind being so close to Sea. On our last visit unusually due to the amount of rain the grass areas for access to and from pitches were badly churned up and care was needed when driving over the grass especially if going up the way. You can walk to Whitley Bay via coastal Path. Bus route is great as stated with buses every 15 mins going to Whitley Bay and Newcastle running till late at night. Great chip shop and cafe at Seaton Sluice along with 3 Pubs. Metro connections available from Whitley Bay town centre. Very popular so need to book in advance. Cycle paths great as well in both directions. St Marys Island Lighthouse is accessible at low tide so check times before proceeding. Spanish city in Whitley Bay great venue recently renovated.
