Good for families

So many great places to visit.

We stayed at Penrhos Caravan Club site for 6 nights. The site has separate fenced in field for safe off lead quick walk and play for the dogs before hitting a great beach. The toilet block has everything you need though having just been at the Willingcot Site, Woolacombe, with it's brand new toilet block, this is dated but perfectly functional and clean as you would expect. The reception has a map with wifi spots marked on, which is most of the site and also a map showing where the shops, dog friendly beaches/pub etc are and also sells a good wedge of Bara Brith cake. But all you need is a map out of the info shed called Isle of Anglesey Attractions and you're ready to explore. There is a Tesco Express in Benllech which has ridiculously silly parking, but does have a chilled alcohol fridge, there are also takeaways, a Co Op, a cheescake shop, American diner and The Crab Shop for fresh catches. It takes about 45 mins to drive from one end of Anglesey to another so everything is within visiting distance of the site. We recommend the following, all dog friendly: The Ship Inn and The Boathouse Bistro at Red Wharf Bay, park at Benllech and walk for miles on the sandy beach to Red Wharf Bay if you like. In Benllech a visit to the Bay Cafe and Bistro should be included. Up North at Church Bay there is a little beach and a coastal walk with The Wavecrest Cafe and The Lobster Pot Cafe/Bistro for some fresh catches. Rhosneigr has another big beach and lots of little cafes, we tried Sandy's Bistro, lovely. Park for free in the library car park there. A must visit in Rhosneigr is The Oyster Catcher Cafe/Bar/Bistro, doesn't look overly inviting from the car park but if you have a dog go up the steps on the left and choose yourself a lovely beach hut to sit and have your meal, lots of doggy water bowls available, no need to take your own. Then there is Newborough Forest, £4 to park with walks in the wood or along the large beach, dogs to the left here and usually an ice cream van here too. For some local fresh produce a visit to Hooton's Homegrown Farmshop, Brynsiencyn, is a must, local pies, meats, burgers, cakes, veg, etc etc and a cafe with outdoor seating too all to a view of Snowdonia. Molefre has a few little shops and of course a pub to site outside to watch the sea as you drink a pint, The Kinmel Arms and also Anns Pantry. Beaumaris Castle isn't dog friendly but we are sure it is lovely, does have lots of little shops though. We're off to South Stack Lighthouse today, we presume it'll be a good walk. There isn't a pub in walking distance though from the site. We'll be back.
