We have been visiting Penrhos site for quite a few years and have always enjoyed our stay. Previous wardens were always polite and accommodating. This time we had a different experience with ONE member of the team. Quite rightly, due to the narrow track to the site caravanners are asked to wait until 1pm and we fully understand that. Hence our need to park on a nearby lay-by until around 12.50. We approached the site to see two caravans in front of us on the track waiting. Vehicles leaving the site were having a problem but coping. We had to turn in behind the two earlier caravans as we were on a busy corner. By this time it was almost 1pm. Soon after that the two earlier caravans moved forward to the reception and a vehicle entering the site moved off. At this point the said warden marched down to us and spoke to us through our car window explaining that we were causing an obstruction ! “What you are going to do is enter the site turn round and come back at 1.30pm. “ We simply could not believe what he was saying. We began pointing out that two vehicles had been in front of us and had move to reception with apparently no decision to make them turn and then return. “ You are breaking the law and I can make you do this” was his answer to our request to be less aggressive. His attitude was unacceptable under any circumstances. He then moved to the vehicle behind, presumably to have a go at them. I totally understand the need to state 1pm entry to the site but the circumstances were such that we were third in line at 12.55 after a 3 hour journey and having parked up nearby prior to entering the site. I asked the occupants of one of the previous cars if they had been reprimanded and she said no. Was it necessary to be so aggressive and attempting to humiliate my elderly husband? (75) I hope nobody else has to encounter such rudeness. This set the tone for the first few days of the holiday and upset both of us. Going forward a few constructive criticisms. 1. A step up to the disabled washroom needs replacing with a ramp at the front of the new building. There are ramps but the very long way round. 2. Lack of waste bins particularly for the visitors on the small quadrangle area. None available on that area whatsoever. 3. In the current times keep a closer eye on checking the toilets, no toilet rolls on a couple of occasions. 4. The band system only works if people adher to it. Sadly quite a number of people chose not to do so. Wardens responsibility to mention this to people not complying when pointed out to them. 5 Understandably the staff have been busy prior to opening but the site is looking rather unkempt in places. Give them the benefit of the doubt on this issue as times have been unusual for the site. All in all a disappointing start to our holiday and one that I sincerely hope people in similar circumstances do not have to encounter.
