Think this was our third visit to Poolsbrook and hope it will not be our last. Just used it as a stopover on way from France to Lancashire this time so did not do much and the weather was not fantastic but the site is. As normal toilet block immaculate with loverly warm showers. Must thank fellow motorhomer Rod for his help with setting up the TV as we had never used the club's aerial before, we had plugged the white lead into the coaxial socket not the RF socket. Cheers Rod and welcome over to motorhoming, caravans are ok but ….as you now know LOL. Next time here with more time we will use the new electric bikes so we can cycle the many local paths.
Ideal base for exploring the area
The site is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It makes a great base from which to explore the area and the adjacent lake is ideal for a short stroll after lunch. We enjoyed our stay here and will most certainly be returning soon.
A Gem of a site
We wanted a N Derbyshire site for a 5 night break and were not disappointed with Poolsbrook. The facilities are brilliant, pitches mostly flat, excellent staff and great for visiting the area. It's only 5 mins from the M1 at 29a and an easy drive. Plenty of walking around the country park or in N Derbyshire. We hope to return in the spring. Ideal for us.
Spotless clean
Lovely clean site, large flat hardstanding.
Quiet secure location.
25 mins away from home, so ideal weekend away.
5 Days of Peace
Just returned from this immaculate site lovingly managed and kept by an awesome, friendly Warden Team in the middle of a Country Park - the only disturbance being the geese when they arrive at the lake. Extremely dog friendly with plenty of walks off-site. Very near the M1 and Chesterfield. We shall return.

Great for Cycling
Our first visit to Poolsbrook - will not be our last. It was the first stop in a 3 week - 4 Club Site tour of the Peak District.
Nice open pitches with plenty of room to put up our Awning, pitch was level so easy for our motorhome. The facilities were spotless and the grounds very clean & tidy.
The Wardens were very helpful - local pub directions / shops etc: and on cycling routes.
We cycled to Chesterfield along the Canal - great town to visit - we parked our bikes at the train station and walked through the town.We also cycled on the TPT up to Rother Valley.
Spent some peaceful time round the County Park bird watching.
Enjoyed our stay and feel there is more we can do here - so will be back - we do not have children but sure that there is enough here to keep them active.
Already booked the next visit
This was our third visit to Poolsbrook, it’s well laid out, clean and well looked after by a great team of wardens who always ready to help.
We have already booked 2 more visits as stopovers on our trip to Scotland.
Lovely clean site
We stayed on this site from 4th August for 4 nights, after reading some bad reviews about the noise we were a bit worried we had booked the wrong site, but to be honest we couldn’t fault the site it was clean well maintained and very peaceful and staff were very friendly, our only criticism was we arrived at 11.30 and we were not allowed on till 12 which I know is standard, and is understandable when the site is busy, but when we were allowed on it was half empty, so felt that they need to be more lenient, I think in all the years we have used club sites this is only the 2nd site to do this
Booked for 4 nights stayed 14.
We were using this site as a stopover on a trip to Northumberland. But as the weather reports for that area were dire and we were basking in sunshine it seemed a no brainer to remain where we were. This site is easy to find, being a short hop from Junction 29A of the M1. The pitches are large and well spaced out. The facilities are excellent, particularly the size of the shower cubicles. Much larger then some sites we have been on. The site managers were welcoming and very helpful throughout our stay. The country park had nice walks, and the café did some rather nice cakes. We found it very easy to get to the Peak District attractions from the site. A bus to Chesterfield was a 5 min walk away. For those who like walking or cycling, the Trans Pennine Way starts just outside the gate. It meets up at Staveley with the restored Chesterfield canal, and it is a pleasant, 6 miles or so walk along into Chesterfield. Nearest attractions to the site, apart from the twisted spire of Chesterfield parish church, are Bolsover Castle and Hardwick Hall. Chatsworth is a short drive away. There was none of the disturbance as described by another poster. Maybe that problem had been addressed. We would certainly return to this site.
Pleasant Site
A very pleasant and well kept site with excellent facilities. Wardens were very welcoming. Our only complaint was the noise from "boy racers" outside the park on an evening basis.
