It’s so good to be out and about again

A well deserved congratulations to the staff of Poolsbrook Country Park who welcomed us back today after COVID shut down. Check in was easy and everything was explained in a welcome pack. So nice to have a change of scenery after 3/4 months. A special thank you to the warden who helped us with a problem that we had with our motorhome and steered us in the right direction to solve it, Now we can relax and enjoy, good to be back out and about with the club,

Good site - shame about fellow CAMC members

Site easy to find, warm welcome from wardens, good size pitches including serviced pitches. Lovely location with Country Park on doorstep and easily accessible. Pizza food van on Friday nights is great. Unfortunately when it comes to fellow CAMC members behaviour this is where the site lost it's appeal. There is no dog walking facilities on site, but there is a dog bin and a very short walk to the country park. that didn't make a difference to dog owner/s who thought it was acceptable to leave their dogs mess on the site driveway directly in front of our van and pitch! Each time I went to use the site toilet facilities I had to go into at least 3 different cubicles to find a toilet that was relatively clean and had been flushed after last persons use. We have stayed at lots of CAMC sites and never encountered such behaviour from fellow members. If this is usual behaviour on this site I feel really sorry for the wardens and disappointed in members. Because of this I probably wouldn't stay here again and will choose a site with dog walking area on site (not for my benefit but for other dog owners)

Very convenient for exploring Chesterfield and local area

We wanted a short trip as a first outing for the motorhome and I had always wanted to visit Bolsover Castle and the crooked spire in Chesterfield. The site is conveniently located for both and there is a bus which goes to Chesterfield from very near the site (plan carefully as it does go all round the houses and you need the 74 NOT the 74a). A pizza van serves delicious cooked while you wait pizzas on a Friday night and the lake and country park provides plenty of walking opportunities. If you go to Chesterfield, do visit the museum which shows how important this town was in the past. Coffee or lunch at Stephenson's nearby is a treat, especially on a rainy and blowy day.

Great Site, Friendly Staff

Our first outing of the year. Had a little difficulty with the unit and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Fair location but Staveley has little to capture the imagination. Chesterfield on the other hand was well worth the journey. And, please, please can the main club website show when a catering van will/should be onsite. It would be a definite aid to planning.

5 star site and Staff

First visit to this wonderful site, ideal for cycling and walking, facilities were spotless, Staff very helpful, However, some of the campers feel it's perfectly OK to leave the toilet bowl dirty, some seem unaware you can flush a toilet more than once to clean it and there's a brush in every cubical, My wife said the ladies toilets were terrible, why do they leave a mess for the wardens to clean, If you are one of the dirty so and so's reading this just think of the next visitor who uses the toilet.

1st ever trip out

First ever trip out in our caravan. Myself and my wife chose this park last minute just for 1 night to try out the caravan we had recently bought. The couple who were running it were lovely. I explained it was our first time and they were lovely. Not sure if all the clubsites are the same but what we were really impressed by was the cleanliness. It was top notch. Well done. Showers and facilities in the block were great. Will be back just for this. Lol Playground for the kids was ok, just outside the park entrance. We noticed they have a pizza van on a Friday. This will be great to know if .... when we come again. Thanks

Good 1st outing of the N Year

Stayed here just for 1 night to give our Motorhome it's first outing of the year. Lovely people and site, facilities very clean and enough of them. We like to leave our unit and walk from site, maybe have a pub lunch and then relax back at our unit. There were no maps left in the Info room, so just walked around the 3 lakes/pools, only took an hour max. Cooked and ate in the M'home which was the plan whilst trying our new little heater! Would have liked a longer walk, maybe there are some as the Trans Pennine Trail is at the side of the site, didn't get chance to ask on this occasion. Would only be a quick night away for us as we are only 30 mins away and we would need more to do in the day, walks etc... but all good otherwise! :-)

Close to perfect site with brilliant wardens

We've stayed at Poolsbrook many times and over Christmas had two one night stays there en route both ways to visit a very elderly relative. It's a lovely well-maintained and well-lit site, and a fantastic site to go running (or walking) from with numerous choices. These include the trans-Pennine trail but there are many other options including along the canal to Chesterfield. As well, of course, as the country park and paths around the lakes on the doorstep of the site. But my most important comment is to praise the wardens who were brilliant in so many ways. They alone are sufficient reason to look forward to our next visit. Thank you wardens.

With added Pools!

First visit to a relatively local site to us. Spent 4 nights and experienced the delights of our varied weather. Very good facilities at this site and well maintained - a credit to the wardens. The excessive precipitation caused serious flooding in Derbyshire but thankfully the site is elevated and although a few pools of water created the need for wellies, it soon drained off. All hard-standing pitches so no mud to contend with. Then had two successive hard frosts which froze the water pipes at the service point nearest to our pitch but soon cleared by the attentive wardens. Good cycling and walking via the Chesterfield canal. Located a short drive from the M1, it's clearly a useful overnight stop-off for travellers north and south. Recommended.
