Sad to hear about the change to winter closure

Poolsbrook Country Park Club Campsite
This is a great site, well laid out and always with very friendly and helpful wardens. We stay here a few times a year and always have a good experience. In particular this year I had a great experience when arriving just before 8pm, after a ferry from France to Portsmouth and a long motorway run, then being welcomed and settled onto site with friendliness and no fuss. I'm sad that the club plans to close the site over the winter months. This is a site that is convenient to breaking long journeys during the dark winter months and I often use it as a final night stop off before putting the van back in storage. I also use it as I live close by and during winter is a good opportunity to get out for the weekend without travelling too far. The club fees have incresed of late and it would be easier to tolerate this if useful sites such as this were kept open in winter.

Great Level Walks

Poolsbrook Country Park Club Campsite
The site is only four or five miles from Chesterfield. It is a great site for getting out walking with quite a few great walks without any real hills. Although the weather wasn't great it didn't stop us getting out and about on the paths right from the site itself. Although there isn't a food shop as such on site a supermarket is only a twenty minute stroll away. We will return in the warmer months and explore more from this well located site. I must also mention the helpful and friendly staff, they were great.

Perfect location! But for how long...

Poolsbrook Country Park Club Campsite
I love this site! I regularly flit between north and south, and it really is the perfect place for me, just off the motorway, but no road noise, and close to family in Rotherham. Whilst this time, I didn't use the main block, I know its well set up, with laundry, showers and dishwashing. The service points are great, especially now that the hosepipes are longer! Because of the layout, no matter what pitch you're on, there is always a service point close by. The wardens are always lovely, no matter who is on duty. I'm not one of those people who book up a year in advance - I'm usually a week or two. So I am extremely disappointed to learn that my 'go to' site is not going to be an all year site for much longer. I have very fond memories of the community spirit during lockdown when Poolsbrook was a Safe Haven site. I've thought of it as home for a while now! With it being just off the motorway, I'm sure a lot of people who want to break their journey without going miles off the M1 will be sad to know that the Club has made this decision. I hope it will be reviewed, because, if you take the option away, people will find alternatives, which ultimately will reduce income, and that can't be a good thing. The Club is set up for the good of its members, and many of us are all year round users, not just high days and holidays!

October break

Poolsbrook Country Park Club Campsite
We booked this site for a week and have never visited here before but we were delighted with it. It is so far the best camc site we have stayed on. All the sites are lovely but this one for us was absolutely amazing. Our two dogs loved the space around the site for walking and my husband being a keen angler loved the fishing lakes adjacent to the site. Unfortunately as a breast cancer patient I have been waiting for a hospital appointment for a long time and got a call offering me a cancellation appointment on the Wednesday so I had to accept as it's important and we had to pack up and leave after only a couple of days. The site wardens were the most sympathetic and wounderful that we have come across and were very understanding and helpful. We were gutted that we had to leave but we will 100%return to this site. Everything so far is going well which is good news. Thank you poolsbrook and hopefully we'll see you soon.

Nice Site

Poolsbrook Country Park Club Campsite
This site is easy to access and is nicely located near the lake with some nice walks close by (dogs on leads round the lake). There is an industrial estate close by with some background noise but not intrusive. The site is very well kept with good sized, level pitches. Staff were friendly and helpful. There is only one facilities block which is closed for cleaning between 10:30 and 12:00 so only 1 toilet is avaiable for the whole site at these times and all other facilities including the dishwashing, veg prep and laundry areas are unavailable. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend.
