Well worth a visit

We stayed here as an over night stop on the way too and back from the south west. I think we found a gem of a site which we will certainly be using in future for longer stays. The wardens were very pleasant, helpful and keep the site and facilities immaculate. The noise mentioned in a previous review was NOT from anyone on site but, from a concert being held at a local football ground and it was only afternoon and early evening.  The only downside for me was the idiots who dont stick to the 5mph speed limit, the lazy dog owners who are too idle to walk their dogs off site and allow them to toilet on the pitches and the brain dead who cant work out the simple mechanics of a toilet brush.

Not a noisey site!!

Stayed here over the weekend of 15/8 - noise mentioned by another reviewer was NOT from the site but from the village. Wardens keep the site immacutely and it is a credit to them. One of the best sites we have visited with plenty of local walks nearby and plenty of other attractions not too far away - Harley Cafe at Welbeck excellent.

Not as good as last time!

Stayed here the weekend 15th August. The site is immaculate and the staff great, we have visited before and really enjoyed it, not so much this time. Saturday afternoon and night we had what sounded like a disco, i don't know which van it was from but not directly near us, we were near the reception so the staff had to have heard it, if they told them to keep it down they ignored them. Not good!

Go try it!

What a fantastic site! Stayed for three nights in August, on our big tour of the UK. Really good location, convenient for those travelling and for a longer stay. We visited Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle from here, what a treat. The site itself is one of the best we have been to, quite flat, open with trees around the edges, quiet,  good hardstanding and immaculate, clean and new facilities. Would recommend highly!

Pleasant stay with lots to do.

We made a last minute decision to go to this site as it was on our way home. Staff were friendly & helpful. Facs spotless. Only stayed one night, but it was long enough to cycle a lovely route along the Chesterfield canal. Nona's cafe looks nice coffee stop, but we carried on to the Tapton Lock Visitor Centre. There is a Country Park adjacent to the site with walks & activities for the kids. There are many more cycle routes which we will do next time we  visit.

Lovely Site, shame about some bad customer interaction.

2015 saw our 3rd consecutive visit to Poolsbrook and it's a lovely site. There are plenty of places to visit in the area including Hardwick Hall, Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House, Bakewell and of course Alton Towers. The facilities are excellent and very clean. The wardens do look after the site in this respect. What I do object to is a Warden with double standards, and unfortunately i encountered such a warden this time. We arrived in good time after a longish drive, checked in and waited for the warden to open the gates. We passed through and proceeded to find a pitch. We were driving around and was stopped by the warden for going too fast around the site. I NEVER do this and on this occasion I must have been travelling about 7mph which I know is over 5mph, the speed limit. The warden told me to slow down and then shouted after me when I proceeded to move off. I thought this was extremely bad customer interaction as there were other service users in the vicinity. I encountered very many other vehicles doing more than the 5 mph around the site that week I was there and they were not warned or shouted at. I will go back to Poolsbrook as I'm not going to let this dampen my enjoyment of this lovely site.

A perfect stopover

We used Poolsbrook for a one night stopover on our homebound return from the north. It turned out an ideal site for us. Very clean, tidy and clearly well managed. The delightful park on its doorstep - an ideal extra for a couple of long and pleasant walks for the dogs. We'll certainly use the site again.

First Timers!

We're very new to caravanning and this was our first Caravan Club experience and only our third time out altogether. From booking to leaving, the experience was great for us. It's brilliant to be able to book online as you don't always have the chance to pick up the phone when you're working. We were slightly nervous of being around other very experienced caravanners but the wardens were absolutely brilliant and very helpful, especially when pitching up. The pitch was massive and we had plenty of room for our van, awning and car and we got to pick our own pitch. The site was very clean and tidy and the bathrooms were lovely. Even though it was busy, it wasn't noisy or disruptive. Even though we have a 4 year old daughter, we still like a bit of peace. Right next door was the Country Park with great walks and playground for the little one. We walked along the Trans Pennine Trail and into the neighbouring town for supplies. We had a lovely weekend and have already recommended the site to our carvanning friends. Thank you for an excellent first Caravan Club break.
