What a little gem!!

This was our first time staying at the Poolsbrook site and what a lovely time we had. The wardens could not have been more helpful. The site is very well laid out, plenty of space on each pitch, it is quiet and backs onto a lovely country park so lots of lovely walks straight from the site and is very dog-friendly.

A lovely surprise was the pizza van which is on site on Fridays - we pitched up in the evening, ordered our pizza and 30 mins later were sitting outside our van enjoying our takeaway!!

We will definitely be returning!!

Highly recommend..first stay but definitely not the last

First time to Poolsbrook..easily accessible...we travelled from near Durham and it was easy to get to. Easy, safe check in...only one person in Reception at a time.....sign ignored sometimes by other guests but wardens quick to politely remind them. Having never visited this site, unsure of best pitches. Couldn’t have got a better one...28....great for sun morning and night and near to service point. Only thing we will say is that if you have young children there is some noise at night...mainly at the weekends...from the country park behind. From the noise, it sounds like young locals...revving of engines etc., but didn’t spoil our stay and obviously out of the hands of CMC. We stayed a full week, even adding on an extra day as it was the bank holiday and it was still available. Highly recommend you take bikes if you have them...but loads of lovely walks. Visit the canal basin at Staveley...lovely quiet walk but also nice walks round the country park...loads of birds....we managed to see a family with 5 fluffy goslings and a Moorhen with 7 babies!! First time I have used laundry facilities....spotless and only one person or one household allowed at a time 👍. Also have never used onboard shower....only had caravan since October 2019....for those hesitant to use their ‘own’ facilities, we would say “go for it”. Pizza van on a Friday...fresh tasty stone baked...highly recommend. Wardens really friendly and helpful. Met loads of people but only got to know their dogs names. Shout out to Buddy and also another Buddy and the gorgeously huge fluffy Doris 😃😃. Highly recommend this site and the fact it is open all year means we will definitely be back later in the year. First outing of the season to visit family

This site was perfect situated to see family. First impressions was good, staff were very helpful and the site clean and tidy. The site was nearly full but very peaceful. Located just near the country park and my only negative would be the boy racer revving their engines, wheel spinning near the location but this isn't the sites fault. Would visit again.

Lovely location and site

This was our first, rather nervous, trip, in our first ever motorhome and can honestly say it could not have been better, or raised our confidence more. The site is spotlessly clean, sorted for Covid, welcoming and well kitted out. We were given our choice of stand, clear instructions on what we had to do and information about the site and surroundings. All the facilities were very clean, modern, and the grounds were spotless, not a drop of litter. It is very close to Pools Brook Country Park, so excellent for walks, cycling and there is a cafe very nearby (although we didn't visit that). A bus stop within a ten minute walk took us into Chesterfield, which is worth a visit, especially in the sun that we experienced. There is also a good walk to Staveley where shops and pubs can be found. We also want to say a thank you to the more experienced caravanners and motorhomers who were welcoming and supportive and make us glad we joined and took the plunge. Can't wait for the next trip!

Lovely break after lockdown

First trip out in 2021 and only 2 days after restrictions lifted so we booked this country park site for a more open air experience. What a great choice, lovely easy walks direct from the site ensured we managed our 10k steps daily. Toilet and dishwashing facilities were open, if limited, and both were kept very clean. Some members unfortunately did not follow the band system but overall it worked well if you needed to use the facilities. The nearest water tap went out of action on our first day but this was repaired in a reasonable time period. Local bus service is £4.90 for a daily ticket if you wish to get out and about but beware the journey into Chesterfield is a bit longwinded travelling through local estates.

A true 'Safe Haven'

I cannot thank the club enough for keeping this site open during lock down. I wish I'd found it earlier, if I'm honest. The site is just off the M1, so convenient, with fab walks close by. There are decent supermarkets not a million miles away. But the biggest plus has to be the lovely wardens who kept the site spotless, and kept us up to date with all that was going on. We were able to maintain all social distancing, until it was time to leave. I'll definitely be back, it's a brilliant location for me. I don't expect to have quite as much space as during lockdown. But the bird song is better than many places I've been, and the semi tame ducks are pretty cute, too. (NB no kids here, so no idea about the families bit, hence the average mark!)

Poolsbrook first visit

First outing this year (blame Covid19). The site itself is easy enough to find. Check in and Wardens as efficient as usual. Site layout easy to understand, well laid out and clean and tidy. Band system for facilities worked effectively. Facilities obviously restricted but were never busy and we never had to queue. Poolsbrook Country Park within minutes and was pleasant to walk around with plenty of room. All in all a good site well maintained and well worth a second visit

Excellent site for walking & cycling

Stayed for a weekend in October. Site is really well set out and very good for cycling or walking around the country parks or on the Trans Pennine Way which you can access from the site entrance. Staff are informative & friendly and paid attention to keeping all public areas well cleaned on constantly refreshed with disinfectant spray.

Great location for walking and cycling

We spent 4 nights here in September. The site is well laid out and almost manicured grass. Unfortunately our pitch was not drained properly and when it rained heavily we had quite deep standing water across the full hard standing pitch onto the road. That aside the site is very good with extremely good facilities which were spotlessly clean, as you would expect. The wardens were helpful and engaging. The best thing about this site is it's location. Outside the site is the Poolsbrook country park with a walk around the lake, children's play equipment, toilets and a café that even has free Wi-Fi and some very good drinks/food. I understand from someone who knows it is good for the visiting birds. Then immediately outside you have access to the Trans Pennine Train where you can walk or cycle on a dedicated path. It also joins up to the Chesterfield Canal at Staveley where you can walk the tow path to Chesterfield with 2 cafes along the way. All in all excellent for walking and cycling. Staveley is a small, once mining, town with an array of pubs, eateries and a Morrisons supermarket with car park suitable for Motorhomes and fuel. It is about a 20 minute walk from the site and right by the canal.

Perfect Poolsbrook

Had a last minute weekend break here in our camper. Super location with the country park on the doorstep and Staveley a short 10 minute walk away for shops & market. Super facilities on site - nice modern toilet & amenities block. Will definitely be back.
