Bookings.

After more than 27 years membership we have found the system of booking introduced at Ramslade to be a) confusing and b) unfair. Even the Wardens, in conversation, confirmed they would prefer the Old system of 1st come 1st served, with the proviso that the Wardens can 'reserve' pitches for disabled members or extremely large outfits if necessary. Whilst we appreciate that the confusion may go as members become familiar with the new system the frustration of being on a muddy slope for your holidays is not what we prefer. Especially when, due to cancellations, we could have had a hard standing if we had arrived later.

we just love this site

we have just got back from our second visit to this site, we find it perfect for visiting this part of Devon. we shell be back again. the facility's are as you expect from the club very clean and the wardens are always helpful and keep the all site very clean. I have noticed that people are moaning about the road to this site but if you take you time it okay just like loads of sites, and obey the club rules on departure and arrival its fine. there is a visiting fish and chip van on Saturdays and Tuesdays evenings which are great. we will be booking again next year. we recommend the crab sandwiches in Brixham harbour at the café call claws indoors lovely. Well Organised Site

This was our first visit to Ramslade and although it was easy to find, the approach road made us wonder if we had made a mistake. The road is, in parts, very narrow and I dread to thinkwhat would happen if two caravans were to meet on any of the very narrow parts. Yes, there are passing points but besides the CC site there is one commercial site and a couple of farm sites so it could get congested. All in all though we had a brilliant time. All the wardens very friendly and were always on hand should they be needed. The site is convenient for the many attractions including steam train rides and river cruises. Agatha Christie's house is a must and is very close to the site. Certainly recommend for long or short stays.

Ist visit

This was our first visit to this site, our reason for the visit was to visit family. Then site is in a good location, although the access road is a bit narrow in places. (Do let let this put you off) The site has good facilities which are well maintained by the warden team. We found it very peaceful during our stay in early Sept.

Fantastic site

I nearly didn't book this site after reading the reviews about the road but I'm so glad I ignored them! Yes the road is narrow in places but you can see a long way ahead and there are plenty of passing places. The site itself was immaculate. Our kids loved the play area and everyone was really friendly. The shop was well stocked and open every time you needed it. The site was well placed for visiting the local area, which has so much to offer. We will definitely be back.

Lovely site

Stayed at site for 1st time. As usual the wardens were really helpful. Site up to usual cc standards BUT really disappointed with the lack of thought from some dog owners. We own two dogs and are responsible, picking up poop from the lovely designated dog walk area...but despite a dog bin some people clearly think the poop fairies clean up after their dogs rather than them bothering to do it...it's not difficult...just do it or risk all our dogs being barred in future! Grrrrrr...... Great location to visit other places in area ... Great little cider shop nearby...:)

A great base to explore the English Riviera.

Despite reading others reviews about the site's narrow entrance road I decided to proceed with my booking at Ramslade Caravan Club site and I don't know what all the fuss was about! As long as you arrive after 12noon and drive at a cautious pace along the 1 mile country road you'll be fine as there are lots of passing places. The site is immaculate and the toilet blocks are as new. Fantastically quiet and very little light pollution giving for great star gazing opportunities. I would highly recommend this site to couples and families as there is a huge playing field, a paddling pool and games room but also boasts the most tranquile settings.

Our recent stay at Ramslade

What can could I say? The 6 wardens really can't do enough to assist in every way possible. I noticed they were out at 8am and one or two evenings, the reception was still open at 7pm waiting to welcome people delayed in traffic. Showers and toilets were pristine despite the number of people on site (full). The pitches and landscaped areas were very well maintained and care was taken to restrict mowing until well after people had woken, so no noisy machinery running when you least expect it. Reception was always busy, but you are greeted with a cheery "good morning" and a smile from all the wardens. Would I return? you betcha I will. I will try and book to stay later this year if I can and I will certainly return next year. 5 stars from me and my wife, a better CC site you will find hard to find. I hope the wardens read this, many thanks to you all. Andy & Kathy

We had a great time!

We stayed here over the bank holiday weekend and are really surprised by some of the negative comments on here. We spent quite a lot of time relaxing on the site, which is beautiful, and frequently commented on how busy the wardens were; on the Friday night they were still cheerfully welcoming later arrivals after a twelve-hour day. The shower and toilet blocks, and the washing-up room were spotless whenever we visited them, the bins were emptied regularly, and the site generally looked well-kept, clean and tidy. Despite being so busy in the office, shop and around the site, the wardens were unfailingly pleasant and helpful, going out for morning papers, providing a good selection of essentials in the shop, and lots of useful advice on local transport, places to go, and so on. They also helped us (newbies!) with a toilet cassette that wouldn’t work after emptying, reminded us to shut the vents when driving under trees etc – and I have to say that when we got the van we were advised to buy a 25m water hose…. We were near the children’s paddling pool, which was a bit noisy, and there were many kids pedalling up and down on bikes, so I was pleased that the wardens were particularly hot on telling drivers to stick to the speed limit (in their “5” T-shirts!). But it’s clear from the club’s description that it’s a family-friendly site, so we expected some noise (although, again as newbies reading magazines and websites, it appears that some people behave very inconsiderately). Yes, the approach road’s a bit narrow, but hey, it’s Devon! and if you’re patient (and drivers coming the other way were all sensible) there’s no problem – we have a 27 foot motorhome. And although the wi-fi is a bit variable, the wardens have a helpful map showing which areas of the site get best reception in case you really need a connection. There are some good walks directly from the site into Stoke Gabriel, a little village with a pretty church and churchyard overlooking the estuary, and a shop selling some interesting ingredients and Dine ready meals. I’d second the recommendation for the Shack, and definitely recommend Emma’s restaurant (BYO wine).
