Lovely Peaceful Site

We stayed on this site for 11 nights and found it to be exceptional. It had lovely surroundings and a really good dog walking area close to the river, where we were lucky enough to see a Kingfisher and a Dipper. The Wardens were very friendly and helpful. The site was immaculately clean and well set out. The Fish & Chip van that visits the site twice weekly was superb and reasonably priced too. The Wi-Fi was a bit hit-and-miss, but we got by. Would defininitely recommend as a great base for visiting Northumberland

Lovely Site, Well Placed

We arrived at 4.50pm on Wednesday 6th July for 4 nights.   Our pitch was designated for us and was great; plenty of room it was hard standing, pitch 29 right next to water etc.  TV reception required external aerial lead but wasn't a problem.  WiFi was great.  Toilets, shower and washing facilities were great.  There is a lovely dog walk and a good sized field during the dog walk to give good exercise.   We didn't see any wardens apart from paying on day 2 but we didn't need any help so all OK.  The one thing I will mention is on immediately on arriving at 4.50pm…the first sign we saw was " All departures by 12 noon".... Personally we think this doesn't make a good first impression, as well as not being greeted but have a warden shout over from their caravan "take your booking from the plastic wallet". Little things but it makes a difference? Overall a good clean site with great facilities and a good base for seeing the sites.

A truly peaceful site.

Just home after 10 nights at this Northumbrian site. It is really very peaceful being half mile from the main road. It has its own nature reserve and adjoining lakes. The River Breamish also adjoins the site. Facilities are very clean, pitches level and Wardens very helpful. Plenty to do in the area but some travelling involved to get to coast or Alnwick. Plenty of good walks from the site plus excellent cycling country. The Breamish and Coquet valleys are beautiful and hardly any traffic. Also an ideal overnight stop to or from Scotland - only 30 miles from Berwick. Excellent chip van visits site twice per week and good Londis plus Filling Station half mile away. Overall would highly recommend.

Lovely Breamish

A lovely site, peaceful and quiet at all times. Excellent wardens on site and very helpful. Fantastic fish 'n chips availability on site Tuesdays and Thursdays also! Perfect for Alnwick and Bamburgh with its golden beaches. Our dog loved the beach! Thanks

Best Wardens i have come across

I never tried the on site facilities but the wife did & she is fussy & she said they are nice. Little shop near by but no pub. Pitch size is good & you can swing the cat without hitting your neighbour. Its pointless listing all you can do in Northumberland so i won't. She is now painting Puffins from photos. Oh the best bit was the wardens, breath of fresh air, never felt threatened once & they always had a minute for a banter.

Great Holiday

We drove all the way up from Somerset and stayed here for 12 nights.  We had a grass pitch. The weather was fantastically sunny! Only really rained on our last day.  Site is really well run by the excellent wardens.  Toilets and showers kept immaculately clean. A great credit to the CC. If you enjoy walking, the Cheviot Hills are stunning in good weather.  We did the back of Ingram Hill (iron age fort etc) and then did the dreaded Yeavering Bell walk (hard walk up but worth it for the 360 degree view at the top of this stunning part of the UK).  There is wildlife all over the nature reserve. Watch out for the adders if you walk the reserve regularly like we did,. Low Newton By The Sea is a beautiful beach, which we walked with our dog. The weather was warm and sunny, and hardly anyone on the beach!!! We will be back.

Great Site

This is a great site in a good location, good walks to see the abundance of wildlife, also very handy for local points of interest, such as Cragside (NT) and Alnwich Castle and gardens.
