Excellent site in perfect location

We stayed for 3 nights this week and really enjoyed our stay. Our pitch was allocated and when we arrived the warden explained where things were etc. There are lovely views and hedges behind all the pitches. Social distancing was good on site with way in and way out for the bins. There are several water points/bins so it's not far to walk to one. The pitches are all large and pretty much level however on the fully serviced pitches the post for the electricity and water aren't in the best of positions once you have pitched your unit on the corner post. We just managed to plug in our water hose but it had to go diagonally underneath the caravan to do so. You might find you are unable to use the on-pitch water without an extra long/additional water hose. Waste (on our pitch - No 46) was in a good position though. We had no need for the digital TV point as reception was good on the caravan aerial. The site is in a perfect location just 5/10 minutes walk into town where there are a selection of restaurants, bars and cafes as well as a Londis and Spar and newsagents as well as several outdoor clothing stores and gift shops. Newspapers could be ordered from the site reception and collected after 8:30am which was really useful. Whilst there isn't a dog walk on site you only have to walk to the end of the site and through the gate to a lovely walk along the river. If you go to the left you get to the town by the train station and if you go right you can do a lovely 25ish minute circular walk along the river bank and around the 9 hole golf course - the path comes back to a gate next to reception. One point worth mentioning is that the railway line does go past the site and you do hear the trains going past during the day but they are only every few hours and it wasn't an issue for us and certainly hasn't caused me to give it less than 5* for peace and quiet. The site is easy to get to and well sign-posted. I've only given it 3* for families as there is no play area. There is a lovely walk directly from the town behind St Mary's Church which goes up to and around Llyn Elsi. It is a VERY strenuous climb for the first kilometre but well worth it when you get to the top and see the views. We didn't walk around the lake this time but no doubt will on our next visit. Such a shame they were having to close because of the lockdown in Conwy the day we were leaving but we will definitely be back next year.

Lovely site close to Betws-y-Coaed

We booked this site early in the year and were thankful that we were able to stay given the Covid situation. We had a warm welcome from the staff, our pitch was allocated and we had asked at the time of booking if our friends could have an adjoining pitch. This had been arranged, so full marks to the team, as this is not always possible or arranged on some sites. Lovely site surrounded by wooded hills, immaculately clean facilities, and just a 5 minute walk or so to get into town. Highly recommend Hangin' Pizza in the old station building. Absolutely delicious! We will visit this site again, as it is a great base to explore the heart of Snowdonia.

Pity we couldn’t stay longer

Stayed for one night in September - pity it wasn’t longer. All sensible COVID-19 procedures in place. All amenities and pitches very clean and well maintained. Have stayed here before and must put in on the ‘go back to sometime’ list.

Almost paradise.

Fantastic place, next to a river with great dog walks. Five minute walk to a beautiful village. Clean and well kept with friendly staff. Not suitable for families as no ball games etc. are allowed, although it didn’t stop anyone playing ball games. My only complaint is, when I asked for an extra night on the site, I was told the computers were down, so nothing could be checked or done. The man on the next pitch to me managed to book an extra night, still with the computers down, although he did seem to be on first name terms with the warden. I will be back though.

Lovely site and location

The location and overall quality of the site are both outstanding. Very clean and tidy, with great views of the nearby hills. Very friendly office staff. Superb riverside walk just over the fence, and just a short stroll into Betws. You could even walk to ZipWorld if you wanted to via path out of the site. 4 stars for peace and quiet, just because there is a train line right next to it - only a few trains and none at night, but there is a 6 am train. 4 stars for family-friendliness because of lack of a play area and restrictions on what the children can use e.g. no rollerblades. The site issues one key per unit for access to the facilities, presumably because of proximity to hiking trails, but that does mean you need to be organised! Two keys would have been nice. Overall, highly recommended.

Excellent site - return visit

Had a lovely 3 night stay between Christmas & New Year. Unfortunately as soon as we arrived the electrics in the van decided to pack up but the staff came to the rescue & helped us out. Many thanks to Leo! We will be returning!

Ideal for walkers

Our first visit to the site in September 5 nights. We were at the very end pitch - quite a walk to the toilet but close to the riverside entrance. Pitch were nice and spacious - we had not booked for awning and they wanted a further £10 - which we did not pay - but the pitch would have been the same one? As a Motorhome user i liked that the pegs were in the corner and everyone parked to the side - this gave us lots of room outside our door and you did not feel you 'wasted' half your pitch on the other side as in CAMC sites. Lots to go off and explore - we did Snowden and river and forrest walks. The town is lovely and so many shops for outdoors as I have ever seen in one place. Another one for our return to list.

Good but...

This is a lovely site. Not too difficult to get to, lovely location and well-kept. The staff are friendly and polite and everything was clean and tidy. There are a couple of issues though. Rules arent adhered to. The info states (among other thing) that there should be no scooters, only one car per pitch and no ball games. I saw all of these broken within half an hour of arriving. Not really a problem but why state it? The two car thing was more annoying as a couple of cars were encroaching into the road. More of an issue was the toilet block and pitch allocation. We arrived just after 1 and the site was half empty. We were allocated pitch 33 which was right at the bottom end. I think it’s fair to say this is the last pitch we would have picked. It’s a good job we like walking as it was a thousand steps to the toilets and back. Speaking of toilets, they are a bit inadequate. They were very clean but when you are walking so far, you don’t really want to see them all occupied. Whoever chose where to put the serviced pitches didnt really think it through. The Club could do with standardising speeds on all sites as 10 mph is the limit for this site and as we all know, a lot of people go a little bit over, including site staff..... I will definitely revisit this site as it was lovely and well-placed but I would choose a serviced pitch next time.

A very pleasant site

We had a certain amount of difficulty finding the entrance - although, once we had done so, we realised it is quite well marked. Do not be put off by the statics around the entrance, once one gets inside it is well laid out and maintained. Julie in reception was in a great state when we arrived because she could only fit us in to two different pitches for our two night's stay. This, of course, did not matter in the slightest and we had great fun teasing her about it. WiFi is available at £5 for 48 hours (cheaper than the going rate on Club Sites!) This is a very convenient site for exploring Snowdonia. All the facilities are clean and more than adequate. Recommended

First solo trip in my motorhome

I visited this site as my first solo trip with a motorhome. Having never camped or used a Motorhome I was relieved to find the Irish couple who welcomed me were very helpful, friendly and always willing for a chat. I had a dog with me and access to the river walk that goes into the village of Betws y Coed is easily accessed from the site and is a pleasant 10 minute walk. The gold club next door says it welcomes visitors and they do a Sunday lunch as well as snacks at other times. In the town a number of cafes and shops allow dogs and there are numerous walks from the village and maps available from the site. I didn't see any specific children friendly equipment on site but it was good to see families playing in the river. A quiet, picturesque and well located site that I will visit again - 2 nights was not enough! Thank you.
