Another Good Site

West Ayton is a good base for visiting the North Yorkshire Moors and Heartbeat Country along with The steam Railway and Whitby had a really good time in June well done to the wardens up their site up to the usuall brilliant club standards.

A very peaceful site

Ideal location for visiting he coast or N. York Moors. It is a very quiet site with a wide range of pitches, good dog walks and play facilities. The only down side is that the toilet blocks are a bit dated and are not up to current standards. A very well maintained site.

Excellent site

I have just returned from the west ayton site and it was excellent. The grounds are very well kept and the warden and his helpers never stop working to keep the site clean and tidy. It is also really well positioned to travel to a number of places around Yorkshire..

2 visits already this year

West Ayton is one of the few CC sites we can hit within 90 minutes of home hence our regular visits. This is a large but very well kept site with great wardens who do stick to the rules but isn't that to the benefit of everyone? Our 3 year old granddaughter loves it here, easy access to lovely days out in Scarborough and the North York Moors, picnics, train rides, sandcastles.... brilliant!! Enjoy this lovely, friendly and perfectly spotless site!!

Not the best start to our holiday

On arrival met by very nice lady wardens. Site itself is nice, quiet and well maintained. The toilet blocks leave a lot to be desired. We parked up on a nice pitch, the gentleman next door kindly advised us that the wardens on this site were quite particular about where and how you pitch up as he had been asked to move slightly the previous day. We thanked him and realigned the caravan slightly. Being members for 10 years we are perfectly aware of the expected layout when pitching up i.e post to right corner of van, awning to left and car to the right. We weren't expecting the warden to come with a laser pen,  measure our caravan and be told to move our car from the right side to the left side as we had pitched up a yard, yes just a yard, too far to the right! Utterly gobsmacked and a down right poor start to our holiday. Never in all the years of staying on  club sites have I had a rather bolshy warden actually using a laser pen to measure your pitching up!!!! Be warned to bring your tape measure with you if you visit this site!

Good Site

Arrived for a three night stay to be met by two very fun loving and friendly  lady wardens, what a start, we were laughing as soon as I closed the office door. Site is quite large, on three levels.  but quiet and peaceful non the less. Dog walks on and around the site are very good, there is even a doggy shower if needed. Due to lack of transport we used the local taxi firms to Scarborough, (£6.50) for four plus dog, we thought was very reasonable. Lots of walks from site but beware the hill is long and steep down to the village, thank goodness we had a mobility scooter, as pushing wheelchair is out of the question. We enjoyed our stay very much and will gladly return, possibly hiring a car for our stay, as transport is we think essential. Site is very well managed and pitches are of an ample size. Final thanks to all the wardens who do an excellent job.

Excellent

After 2 bad experiences we were beginning to wonder if the club was going downhill but this site renewed our hopes, it was so peaceful, clean and well run by the very friendly and efficient wardens,  there are some lovely walks in Forge valley just near the site and Walkers fish and chip restaurant was excellent. We will definitely be returning and look forward to doing so, so happy our faith in the club has been renewed .

Top of the Range

Over 35 years as a Club member, received many welcomes on arrival but this has to be the best.  Professional yet relaxed, the usual items of pitching, etc explained without it sounding like a script. The site is first class, clean and so tidy. Site plan is a good layout to provide good size pitches and space with both hard and grass pitches catered for. The Dog walk is a proper dog walk  (not an excuse added on after like many) even the mowing management in the walking field was sensitively done to cater for the wild flowers.  A busy site but still so quiet even at weekends.  Shame the excellent children's play area doesn't get more use. Lots of walks in the Forge Valley straight off the site.  Location is great as you are 10 minutes from Scarborough but travelling north. east or south to explore Whitby, the Moors or Filey is easy.  We will be back as the site as so much to offer....the site is a real credit to both the staff and the Club.
