Silverbank, Banchory

Silverbank had been recommended by friends and so we had a few days there just a week ago. Lovely clean and tidy site, nicely situated in Banchory, which in itself is a lovely wee town. Some have remarked on the fact there is only one toilet block and that was not a problem for us but could understand how it might be at the height of the season. Everyone very friendly and Sue was especially so she even phoning us at home to inform us of roadworks on the nearby 'B' Class road which was closed off and required us to divert via Aberdeen, probably another 25 miles on our journey. Only observation I would make was that some of the pitches would be rather tight to reverse into but the majority of caravanners seem to have motor movers. A lovely site in a lovely area all the way along Royal Deeside and facilities very close to hand. A most enjoyable few days and we will return.

Great visit

We have just spent a lovely 5 nights on this site. It is a small level site on the outskirts of Banchory. Site staff were helpful and the loos and showers were always clean and tidy, although it was a small block ( 4 loos, 3 showers & 3 sink cubicles for the ladies) . All the pitches are large hardstanding, so the van, awning and car are all on the hardstanding. There is a both a big Tesco and Morrisons within walking distance of the site. The only drawback of its position is that there is traffic noise from the main road. We cycled from the site to Aboyne along the Deeside way, which is a long distance path from Aberdeen to Ballater. It is billed as suitable for walkers, cyclists and horses. Although it is not a mountain bike route, I would not recommend doing it on road bikes with skinny wheels because of the surface, which varies between compacted cinder paths and much looser gravelly sections. There is also a chunk in a forest, which we avoided by using the road, but this adds a lot of miles to the route. We also took the bike on the car to Aboyne, to do the section from there up to Ballater. The caravan site has a leaflet and pdf on the website of a short 4 mile cycle loop to Crathes Castle. We used this as a walking route to the castle, and round the grounds, which is well worth a visit.

Brilliant site

we spent a week at this site and loved it. The wardens were very friendly and helpful and site was spotless. Supermarkets very close to the site and so was the bus stop, just out side. Would be nice if the caravan club could invest some money on a better toilet block as mentioned in other reviews there are not many showers and toilets. But would recommend this site.

Lovely Site

Just returned from a two week holiday in Scotland. We stayed at Silverbank for the 2nd week and really enjoyed our stay. Relatively small site but very well maintained. Ideal base for the east coast of Scotland and the Cairngorms. Located on the edge of Banchory it is a relatively short walk into town (lovely town) and bus stops are just outside the entrance if you want to travel further afield. Probably not as good for families as no play areas/equipment for kids but ideal for me and the wife. Would definitely recommend.

WELL WORTH A VISIT

REALLY GOOD SITE Visited here for the first time 16th July for 2 nights, wished we had stayed longer!!! It was relief wardens on duty and they were very friendly, the site was spotless, as was the toilet block. I did not think it was expensive, as we paid more at Grantown on Spey and the facilities were definately not as good. Planning on going back there as soon as we can. The site has beautiful walks only 5 minutes from the front entrance, and Banchory is a really pretty town only a 15-20 minute walk away. Also buses run right by the front gate to Aberdeen, and Braemar if you want to leave the motorhome on site. Love this site.

Site not as good as we first thought.

Stayed at Banchory last weekend arrived 15th July 2017 for three nights as a stop over between a visit to Balmoral Castle and Aberdeen. Whilst the overall site was maintained rather well and the wardens quite welcoming when we saw them daily.... we found the site quite expensive compared to other sites with much better facilities. Our total pitch fee was £99.00 for three adults and we were not really impressed overall. My wife and I to include my disabled father found that the facilities were rather poor at Banchory and there were certainly not enough toilets and showers for the amount of people that were staying on site which in fact was FULL ( 3 x showers and 3 x toilets for men) the same for womans block and 1 x disabled wet-room and toilet. Every day....everyone had to queue for long periods of time and on the Saturday morning there were five men in front of me waiting therefore it took me nearly one and a half hours just to have a shower. On a daily basis especially in the morning,...there were very long periods of time just to use the toilets too. My father experienced extremely long waits just to use the disabled toilets, because there were only three showers in the men & woman's blocks....everyone who could was using the disabled shower and toilet too, therefore disabled people could not use the facilities. The site was also situated right next to the main Banchory Road and the traffic noise during the day and early evening was rather noisy....it only quietened down around 11pm onward, however early morning around 5 am all the noise started all again and you were awaken early each day. Would I stay there again ....NO, Do I feel it was value for money....NO. Would I recommend this site....NO

Great Site-Highly Recommend

As we are new to Caravanning, this was a great place for us to start, we stayed here 3 nights & will certainly be back very soon, Gary & Sue (Landlords) make the site, from the warm welcome that you receive from them on arrival, & really very helpful during our stay & nothing was to much for them, the site is spotless & well kept, immunities immaculate, nice walk behind the site old Deeside railway track, Tesco & Morrison near by the site & the lovely Banchory just along the road.

Regular visitors

We are regular visitors to this site. Excellent transport links into Aberdeen, lots of National Trust for Scotland places to visit within easy reach. Tesco just a short walk away. A couple of excellent garden centres nearby. Good for cyclists and runners and dog walkers! Road noise can be a bit load depending on where you pitch but no other issues.
