Well maintained and welcoming

Just returned from another visit to the Southport site which is always very well maintained by the wardens. It’s in an excellent location for trips to the beach or sand dunes whilst leaving your car on site. It’s a flat site with very clean facilities and although the site was full over Easter it didn’t feel overcrowded and it was lovely to see children playing out and enjoying the fine weather. This site is quite local for us but is one which we like to return to.

Lovely site

This is a lovely site flat pitches, clean and tidy. The site is ideally placed for wondering around Southport or Birkdale. Always a site we return to.

Another nice weekend in southport,,, But some site issue

second time we have stayed here as we love southport and bought our camper last year so we can have a few weekends here, as with all the sites on the club we have stayed at, great facilities and very very clean, this easter weekend was very busy and plenty of vans and caravans queing to check in, we were all fast tracked through and on site by 12.10, so great work by the team. we have stayed on the club sites a few times last year and had no issues at all, however this stay was tainted by a family right opposite us, they were an embarrasment, often shouting and swearing very loud so we could hear every word, including the awful c word directed at their children, camping in an enclosed enviroment can be stressful for families i guess but this just wasnt what you expect on club sites of this calibur. hopefully our next visit will be a tad more peaceful and quieter.

A wonderful stay but........

In the week before we arrived we read through site reviews and contacted the site office to clarify a few points raised including but not limited to wind breaks.

On arrival we selected our pitch and began setting up. I put up the Awning and the windbreaks on the grass. Around half an hour later I was outside the van tinkering with my bike when I was approached by that Scottish Warden. He could not have been anymore aggressive, rude or ignorant had he tried. He demanded that our windbreak was taken down even though we had clarified the week before we could have it up. He also demanded I shorten my guy ropes on the Awning to at least 2 metres from the edge of the grass. When I asked why this was necessary he barked at me "Because that grass belongs to me!!!!" He then proceeded to mark out 2 metres by 'Goose stepping' twice.

At this my partner came out of the caravan and started remonstrating with him. He couldn't have cared any less. 2 minutes later he was back and kicked off about our dog being off the lead even though he had just come out of the Awning to see me. He is an 11 year old Golden Retriever, hardly an attack dog. "Get that dog on a lead!!!"

My partner went to the office and reported this appalling behaviour. An official complaint has gone into the Caravan and Motorhome Club and we will wait and see what happens. As several reviews have already mentioned the appaling behaviour of this Warden I hope my complaint is investigated thoroughly.

All this happened within 2 hours of arriving. We were on the verge of packing up and coming home but we were not going to let this moron ruin our stay.

A couple of days in Liverpool, The Albert Dock, The Cavern Club and St Patrick's Day. A bike ride to Formby and some lovely walks. We are so glad we stayed, all the staff except 1 were fantastic, especially Mark and Tracey, and couldn't do enough for us. We have fallen for this site and booked 2 more stays for this year. Can't wait to get back in May.

Another Great Visit to Southport

13th February 2022 was our second visit to this site, this time stopping at the "runway" end. Site is ideally located for walking into and around Southport town centre, the promenade and general front marina area. Also links to NCN cycle ways for Formby and Liverpool to the south and Preston and beyond to the North. Access is easy and pitches are almost level with minimal setting up needed. Services are well spaces on site. Turning around at the end of "the runway" could be difficult if pitches are taken: Staff did advise us. Pedestrian access to the adjacent parks and service roads are good, although storm Dudley, Eunice and Franklin all caused significant surface water OUTSIDE the site, meaning access to the footpaths was cut-off. Not really a problem but it did mean walking into traffic against the exterior wall. Apart from the extreme weather the trip was very enjoyable, the site discharged its role with honour and we can only speak highly of the site, staff, and surrounding area.

Wonderful Welcome

We arrived on site at approximately 15.00hrs on Saturday the 05th February. I had the warmest welcome I have ever received at any of the sites we have used for many years! Nothing was too much trouble…the remaining pitches were all explained to me in detail as a couple out of the 5 remaining we could park the Motorhome on sideways…which was new to us! I was told about a dog friendly place to eat in an establishment that welcomed dogs and given a card which offered discounts to C&MC members. I was told about a short cut into town and was also offered directions into the park where we could let the dogs off their leads We were told exactly where to access the water and waste and how to negotiate the barriers again prior to parking up. This lady was just full of information that I hadn’t even requested…it was very wet and windy but I left the office with renewed vigour. The site was very close to the park where the Southport Flower Show is held…a local Supermarket…the Sea front and the town centre…we loved it and plan to return…hopefully with no wind and rain next time! Thank you Southport staff!

Always an enjoyable stay here.

We come to this site regularly to visit family who live in Southport, it’s also where my husband and I first met 50+ years ago so has a special place in our hearts. I’m sure it’s not just the rose tinted spectacles but we’ve never had a bad experience here; the staff are always helpful and friendly, the facilities are always immaculate and the pitches are excellent too - we have a tag axle and if we’re going to be on the late side arriving they often cone one off for us. The site is well located for everything; we always enjoy a walk along Rotten Row and either head in to town, down the pier or around the Marine Lake. It doesn’t matter what the weather is doing, the Southport Club site is always busy and popular. In all honesty, we’ve never had a bad experience on a Caravan & Motorhome Club Site and enjoy going in the knowledge that we can expect a warm welcome and a pretty high standard of everything. Highly recommend.

Another excellent, enjoyable stay at Southport club site

After a nice warm welcome as I entered reception, I was booked in and on my way to my pitch in just a couple of minutes. Very efficient and friendly. I chose my pitch then returned to reception to notify my pitch number and receive the keys to toilets and barrier fob, again quickly and efficiently. The site plan and information leaflets were excellent and I noticed a really good point about speed on site "5 mph, which is first gear". Unfortunately, a lot of people still ignore this important point and the site wardens cannot possibly be policing every vehicle movement on the site. It is up to us as caravanners and motor caravanners to observe it - we are on holiday - what is the rush? Maybe reminder boards reading "1st gear only" would be more effective as some vehicle's speedometers do not even show 5mph? This is not just an issue for Southport, but all caravan sites that I have visited. The toilet and shower block was very clean and tidy; I used the showers on two mornings and was very happy with them; clean spacious and nice hot water with enough room to dress and sufficient hangers for clothes and towels. A long handled squeegee on a wall bracket allowed me and other users to make sure the shower floor was suitable for the next person - a welcome small addition. The motorhome service point was well laid and easy to use, as were the rubbish and recycling bins. All in all, a very enjoyable stay and I look forward to my next visit. Thank you Southport club site staff.

Great location, clean site and facilities

This site is a favourite of ours and we are regular visitors. As always the wardens got us booked in quickly and efficiently. Usual helpful friendly wardens. The facilities were kept clean, as was the site itself. It's a shame that the large new part of the site is always closed off, tougher with its shower block at this time of the year, as we love the open space and outlook there. Could do with a bit more lighting in some locations, for example the area/pitches backing onto the Rotten Row perimeter, opposite the waste/ water services. Also, the the perimeter fence at the back of these pitches is not very substantial and offers very little security. But as always we had a lovely stay, and the site is well placed for easy walking into the town, to the seafront and pier areas. provided you are reasonably mobile.
