Super site

A super site in a great location to explore South Devon. Really clean and well kept site. Very easy access. Good dog walk. Will stay here again.

Will stay there again.

With relatives close by, we needed a suitable site in order to attend a wedding. Linda and I usually much prefer to use CLs rather than club sites, not only for economy, but because we like to keep away from others and better yet, be alone in a field. Stover is only 5 minutes from Bovey Tracey (if it wasn't for the road works) and that suited us perfectly. It is not too far from Newton Abbott with several supermarkets to choose from and all the other facilites and attractions there. Trago Mills is only a mile away (you could walk if you were not going to buy anything heavy) and includes a Co-Op with cheap fuel. We tried the Mill shop which is a source of cheap everything, but huge and unattractive. The check-out queues resulted in us dumping the things we though we might buy, and we couldn't get out quick enough. It would be a good visit for family entertainment though. The site is well laid out, with a choice of grass or hard pitches and a plethora of service points. You will never be very far from the water and waste. Of course, there is no toilet block which to us is preferable. No morning parade of people in their night clothes. There is some road noise, the road alongside the site is a busy one. This includes sirens at intervals as it is a main route. However, the noise quietens at night and is never unacceptable due to the dense trees between the site and the road. There is lots of bird song and many owls. We had a toad take up residence under the awning (breathable) groundsheet. All in all, a very relaxed and happy stay, and we will stay there agin when visiting relatives nearby, especially during the busy times when the CLs are all too full.

What a lovely site

We don't usually go away in August, but as we had just lost our little dog due to kidney problems, at 16 years old. We thought we would get away, saw this site and the warden was so helpful on the phone saying it wasnt too busy we decided to go and we are so pleased we did its beautiful. Quiet and peaceful, lovely surroundings with the country park next door.  Not a lot for children to do, so it was mainly older couples with dogs. We will be going back again next year.

A week at Stover

Easy to find from A38 warden in reception very pleasant and helpful, found a nice pitch and setup easily, plenty of room.Water close and as usual well thought out.Had a great week, site had a lot of empty pitches which surprised me as it is a gem.Close to Stover Country Park, bus stop outside you would have imagined it would have been packed. There are no facilities which would make it difficult for families but it was no problem for us.Very few children on site who were very well behaved. No complaints at all and would happily return.Wardens were helpful when needed and kept the site spotless.A chip van visited Friday night and fish and chips was well cooked and tasty.

A very pleasant stay

Stover is the perfect site for my wife and myself. It is very easy to get to the site and access is great. The lack of toilet block etc does not bother us as we have all we need in our caravan. The site is small and tends to be very quiet despite being busy most times. We visit early summer before the school holidays start which guarantees a quiet fortnight. The wardens are fantastic and offer any assistance needed without being in your face all the time. The site is very well kept at all times even when full and difficult to mow. The fish and chip van that visits every Friday is worth the wait. We have been coming here for years although this is our first trip in 3 years as we retired and relocated. Just bought a completely new rig and Stover had to be visited again - we were not disappointed.

Haven of peace and beauty

This was my second visit.  The site is just lovely.  Attractive, good sized pitches mostly and quiet.  A perfect site for a restful holiday.  The wardens are so friendly and helpful.  The Country Park next door provides lovely walks of differing lengths and there is a bus stop outside the site, buses going to Newton Abbot and beyond, along the coast.  There is so much to do and see in this area.  But be warned there are many single track roads!  I hired a car - no chance of taking the motorhome along some of the roads.  This was a smart move!  I shall be back.  A glorious week.  More sites like this one would be wonderful for motorhomers.

Bliss!

This site is a gem. It has a great dog walk but, even better, is Stover Country Park right next door. Trago Mills is nearby with various eateries, a small Co-op for everyday needs, an outdoor/camping shop, as well as all the goods for sale within Trago. The wildlife around Trago is wonderful - peafowl mostly. I was disappointed to see an earlier negative review criticising the lack of shops and the lack of facilities. Surely we all realise this is a non-facility site when we book? We will return.

Lovely site

Just spent a week on this lovely site June 2015. The wardens were so friendly and helpful and they keep the site immaculate. The absence of a toilet block made it even better.Plenty of wildlife to watch. The site is so easy to get to, no narrow lanes to negotiate and is central for days out all along the Devon coast. The only down side is the traffic noise mostly motorbikes and cars with noisy exhausts pulling away from the island and speeding down the adjoining lane. Other than that a truly enjoyable stay, one to recommend.

short break

just arrived home from a short break at this great site, loads of wildlife as we always put up a bird feeder,we had a squirrel visit every morning and evening, and five ducks, only complaint is the noise from the road as we were closer to the road on this visit, motor bikes seem to think the road is brandshatch racecourse,so if visiting be as far away from the road as possible, feel sorry for the caravaner who left the site before us this morning as they lost a vent off there caravan in the road,i tried to save it but road was too busy and it was smashed to pieces, will stay again as love the area.
