Easter break

We have stayed on this site when it first opened, so thought it was time to visit again. We was on pitch 44, the road noise didn't bother us. Had a walk into Barnard Castle on what turned out to be the best day. Not much open due to it being Good Fri, but was able to have liquid refreshment sat outside in the sun. We managed a 7 mile circular walk from the site which was very nice apart from the showers. It is a lovely clean site. Good location. Don't have a dog or children so cant comment on the facilities. The fish and chip van comes Fri. No good to us due to Gluten free diet, but is a nice idea if you travelled and want a quick easy meal. Will go back again.

Wet Easter weekend

Managed to get a last minute 2 night pitch so consequently near road & some traffic noise but not a problem for us. Easy walk into town over the Tees & past castle, very picturesque if you are lucky enough to have sunny weather. Usual high quality & standards. Will definitely visit again.

Great site

Used the site to test out new (to us) caravan. The motor mover decided it was not going to work, Warden immediately offered to help with van, but we managed. Fantastic toilet block, lovely and warm, and immaculately clean. Fish and chip van on site on Friday, some of the best fish and chips we have had for a while. Will certainly be back again

Enjoyable First Visit

Last time we were in this area, the site was still under construction, so delighted to have now stayed here. Really enjoyable stay with excellent facilities and welcoming staff. Our pitch overlooking the Deepdale Wood Nature Reserve was ideal for birdwatching. Fairly easy walk into 'Barney' but will be better when woodland path is more accessible (landslip currently makes this somewhat hazardous)

Well worth a visit

We have used several other camp sites in this area in the past but will definitely be coming back to this site in the future. The location is really good for Barnard Castle visits and apart from the proximity of the sometimes busy road the site was fantastic. The staff were exceptionally friendly, the toilets immaculate, warm and welcoming and small touches like mowing a shorter path around the dog walking field were extremely thoughtful and made the difference. All the pitches are hard standing so this site will be just as good in the wet weather although boots were needed for the dog field as the entrance was quite muddy. We didn't have children with us but the play park looked great and made me wish I was a child again. Be warned though - if you have a long car/caravan overall length you will need a caravan mover as some of the sites involved almost jack-knifing the caravan to get it into position. The pitches are plenty wide enough, just a bit lacking in depth and reversing space. Rock pegs and a strong hammer are also a must. Great site overall though and definitely well worth a visit.

Short break

We stayed here for the first time this season and remembered how much we had enjoyed staying here last season. Close to walk into town with its many shops and pubs.We both work so are weekend caravaners and don't want a long drive on a Friday so this is perfect as within a hour of home. We also use White water which is at present closed. Cant fault site or staff. Its such a shame that it not a 12 month site as we have missed winter caravanning this year and with all the pitches hard standing it would be perfect. Booked to return next month.

A little gem

Lovely site tucked away in the countryside but only a very short distance from Barnard Castle with its shops, pubs, cafes, and of course the castle itself. The site is kept very clean, as are the facilities and the wardens were very helpful. The pitch is hard standing so if you have an awning you need steel pegs.I made one slight mistake and parked facing the road rather than the river .,so I never had breakfast in the awning, in the sun as it was on the wrong side. ( learning all the time )

Two night stay for nearby event

A very clean and modern site situated in a beautiful area, ideally located to Barnard Castle as only a short walk away. The staff are friendly and helpful.  The pitches are large, level and well spaced. Excellent facilities, well organised and plentiful. Downsides are the road noise if staying on the top pitches but not an issue on the lower ones.  Being new members we are not up to scratch on site rules and regs and lost our pitch after one day as we were not told we had to 'reserve' it even though we had to inform reception which pitch we had chosen for our 'two night' stay!  Regardless of the downsides...overall a very pleasant stay and will definitely stay again...with a 'reserved' sign! Haha

Lovely walks

A lovely quiet, well kept site. Easy walk into Barnard Castle. Plenty of good dog walks on and close to the site. Town centre has plenty of small shops and pubs. Will be back.
