2nd visit

This was our 2nd visit to this site & although the weather wasn't great we still enjoyed our stay. The facilities are spotless, the wardens pleasant & helpful, there is a good area to walk the dog on site & plenty of lovely walks in the area. The site is a 20 min walk from Barnard Castle with a good selection of shops' & nice reasonably priced pubs selling good food.(many of these are dog friendly)We will most certainly visit again in the future & have no hesitation in recommending the site.

1st Visit with puppy

We regularly use this site when we don't want to drive too far and it never disappoints. The site is very well maintained with spotless facilities.I think someone should look at the flushes in the mens loos as they are not working correctly and need to be fixed. One complaint to the thoughtless customers who used the loos over the weekend 13-16th March, you would not leave your loo at home in the state you left those on site. I really can't understand people who don't clean up the mess they make. We introduced our new puppy (Max) to the pleasures of caravanning and I think he thoroughly enjoyed himself. One minor moan, although the dog walk field area is terrific, the entry is in a terrible state with ankle deep mud.It can only get worse so why not gravel the entrance, I'm sure users will be delighted as you can't clean that sort of mess from your dog without it getting into the caravan. We will be back to Barny as it is a lovely place with some great walking, especially on the old railway tracks between Romaldkirk and Middleton.

Loved our time here

We stayed here for 3 nights during March. We booked and stayed on a fully serviced pitch. From the moment we arrived the wardens were extremely helpful and friendly, they quickly checked us in and gave us a map explaining the site and different walks we could take.  We found a lovely pitch and set up right next to the toilet block. We had lovely views down over the site. While I left the hubby pitching up I took our dog to explore the dog walk and I was pleasantly suprised, although it was only a short gated walk just along the bottom of the site it was a lot nicer than some of the sites we have visited and perfect for short walks at night .. Although it would have been nice to have a few lights as it is hard to manage with a torch.  The toilet block was fantastic, they were always clean and warm. The showers were brilliant and I loved the way they were portioned off to save your clothes/towel getting soaked.  The site itself was well kept and lovely and peaceful. It is perfectly positioned for Barnard Castle centre and local points of interest. We would personally recommend the waterfall High Force and Hamsterley Forest (you might even be lucky enough to see a Gruffalo).  We had some very strong gales and snow while we were there and it just added to our idea of a perfect relaxed get away. We can't wait to return. We couldn't recommend this site more.

Relaxed Weekend

What a lovely site well maintained and very helpful and friendly wardens. We will definitely be booking again and the added bonus is its only 30mins from home.

Another cracking weekend at Teesdale

Not the first time we have been and it will not be the last.  The extension to the dog walk facility is a welcome addition.

A fabulous weekend break.

We stayed here for two nights 27/2/15. A lovely site very close to Barnard Castle, a very pleasant 15 minute stroll away, where you will find plenty shops, bars and restaurants for a small town. There is plenty walking to be had in the area and even from the site itself. The facility's are first class and very clean and the pitches of a good size. The dog walk is small but it's handy to let your dog clean itself first thing and on a night. The wardens were very pleasant and helpful. There is a play park for children which looked good but I don't think it would be suitable for our 4yrs old grandson he's just a bit to young for the apparatus provided, in my opinion. We refrained from using this site as it's so close to home (18 miles) but not anymore, we booked as soon as we got home for another weekend in March. I can see this becoming a regular site for us. Such a pity it's not open all year.

Snowy Break

Just got back from a 3 night break.  We use this site regularly because it is local and a great location.  We awoke our first and second mornings to a covering of snow.  It was magical.  All 3 dogs loved it and played in the dog walk.  Once again a lovely time.
