Great Site

We had a two night stop heading South for home and would have liked to stay longer. Lots to do and see in the area whatever your likes. Cheerful and helpful wardens. Excellent facilities; the most spacious showers ever seen on a site.

Great site & Wardens

Had an excellent Bank Holiday weekend at this site. Facilities spotless and a credit to the obviously hard working, very friendly and helpful wardens. Easy to walk into the lovely town of Barnard Castle. Would love to return.

Brilliant site!

I have stayed at this site many times and always have a great time. It's extremely well maintained and spotlessly clean, and also has a lovely relaxed feel to it. It was a lovely surprise to see wardens Brian and Janet who I've met at a previously, equally well maintained site. If there is an award for the friendliest wardens, I would like to nominate them!!! Thanks for a brilliant bank holiday weekend :)

Great wee site!

We stopped here for two nights en route home from London.  A great wee site with excellent facilities, great play park and peaceful & quiet location.  Good views over surrounding countryside and close to Barnard Castle for exploring.  The main road which runs close by the site is very quiet and we did not notice it at all even though we were at the top of the site nearby.  Would definitely use again, possibly for a longer stay.

Short Stay April 2015

Just come home after a short stay at this site. In a word excellent........ Fits the bill for those looking for a base to explore the nearby countryside and further afield. or for those looking for a family holiday and a short walk into Barnard Castle. The facilities are excellent. We will be back for a longer stay

Well worth a visit.

Very quiet, despite being close to the road. Partial footpath is available at the roadside when walking to town but not too long before one can enter council walkways near the castle. Staff are very friendly and the facilities are of a very high standard. Well worth another visit when time allows.

A Lovely market town

We had a lovely stay over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend and were very lucky with the weather too. The site is small but well maintained. A large number of the pitches are adjacent to the road so there is some road noise but not bad enough to spoil our stay. We didn't try walking into Barnard Castle centre as it was a fair walk and there aren't any proper pavements so we used the car instead. The small town has a wide variety of eating places and pubs. The Golden Lion is the oldest with plenty of character and Sunday lunch at the Three Horse Shoes was delicious. There are lots of lovely Northumbrian villages nearby that are worth a visit. High Force Falls was spectacular. I think we've found ourselves another favourite site!

Lovely site close to Barnard Castle

We have just had a lovely 10 days at the site which we thoroughly enjoyed (except for the gales, but the CC cannot be held responsible for that!!). The facilities on site are maintained to an exceptionally high standard and as well as the usual dish-washing room, laundry room etc, there is also a drying room for wet coats and boots. There is a small dog walk and also a big field where you are allowed to let dogs off lead for a good free run, although the Wardens do stress that it is not totally secure so you must be responsible for keeping your dog within the permitted area. Our little Cockapoo had a great time in there! There is a certain amount of road noise but this did not affect us as all. The Wardens are all very friendly and helpful. We are already looking forward to our next visit, when we hope the weather will be more favourable so that we can get to see more of the area. Nearly forgot to mention that there is a Fish 'n' Chip van which visits on Wednesday and Saturday - not to be missed. We can thoroughly recommend the site.

Lovely, clean facilities, close to town.

Lovely site, a little close to busy road, but not noisy at night. The warden was very friendly and welcoming. The toilets etc were exceptionally clean. Nice walk into Barnard Castle, albeit muddy! Great site, loads to do in the immediate area. We only stayed 1 night, but were more than satisfied with the site and would recommend. Great dog walk too !
