Very well located for Barnard Castle itself (10 mins walk) and access to Teesdale, Northern Pennines, Durham and so on. Very clean and well maintained site, friendly wardens ( the cover warden on duty when we arrived less so) albeit a bit windswept location especially the last booked night with a severe storm. Great dog walk through woods into town - just need to be careful negotiating the small landslip which the locals blame on the CC...... Club please be aware! Anyone planning on using the site in adverse weather should carefully consider which pitch to use, most are broadside to the prevailing weather and it is a windy location ( many spent the night in their cars it was so bad when we were there)! However the rain added to the spectacular High Force and Aysgarth Falls.
