This was a return visit to the site, and we were delighted to find they now have a field next door offering a really good dog exercise area, with nicely positioned dog waste bins round the perimeter. This was a real bonus on an already excellent site, so we extended our stay by two extra nights. Although the site was really full when we arrived (we took the penultimate pitch), the facilities were as spotless as ever and the wardens really friendly.We stayed longer this time since we had a place to run the dog out, and explored some of the walks locally.You can go for long or short walks from the site, there are plenty of options in all directions. We saw an otter on the Tees just above the weir, plus dippers and oystercatchers upstream of there. We rate this site really high. However we don't have chldren so we had to 'guess' at the star rating for them - I suspect the closeness of the main road may be a problem for some, though the children we did see appeared happy enough. We intend to make many return visits to this wonderful site and explore the dales roundabout.
