Our first visit to this site

First, a heads-up.  The late night arrivals area has been re-designated a Car Park.  The warden advised me that vans are not allowed to park there overnight for health and safely reasons. The two electric hook up pillars are disconnected by the warden and reconnected when travelling chip vans sell on site. There is nowhere else to park if you are late.   This site is close to a fast and straight B road.  You will get a lot of road noise if your pitch is anywhere near the road, as many here are.  That said, at night it is possible to hear many night birds calling from the nearby woods and fields.  There are also a lot of garden birds on site during the day. The position of the site is within a relatively easy walk (along the verge of the  B road with no footpath) and access to Barnard Castle is across a footbridge over the Tees.   There's lots going on here as well as lots of places to see nearby.   The pizza van which calls on Friday evenings sells the best pizzas we have ever eaten at very reasonable prices.  If you like your fish and chips in beef dripping then you'll love the chip van which comes twice a week. There is an excellent dog walk in an adjoining field owned by the Caravan Club and the wardens thoughtfully mow paths through it.  I was given to understand that the Club intends extending the site into this field in the future. High standard of loos and cleaning as always.  We enjoyed our stay but found it noisy here.
