The "Dominic Cummings Trail" to Barnard Castle . + Fish & Chips at 149 .....

Now we know why Dominic Cummings visited Barnard Castle " during lockdowngate ". No doubt looking for Absolutely The Best Fish and Chips we have ever tasted at Fish and Chips 149.... ... We always wondered why a queue appeared outside this Fish and Chip shop " just across the road from Three Horseshoes Hotel . Have to say its worth walking to Barney from the site just for some find a bench and tuck in ( No seagulls either ) . Easy walking route As other reviewer stated . Down the hill then cross the Pedestrian Bridge on your left . Walk up to the town and you will find yourself at the top of Barney and near Morrisons store. 20 mins max but watch the first 300 yards without a proper path. We stayed at Barnard C then drove to Hawes site and then Barnard C again . The Wardens at BC are top class and booking in isnt such a big event as it seems to be at Hawes Site , This site Opens at 12 mid day with no messing . Fast process and choose your pitch all of which are white pin. simple. The TV booster gave us over 100 TV channels ( while Hawes site didnt work at all.) Many reviews mention the road noise and the site is currently being extended but at night its totally peaceful. not a sound apart from owls hooting and the road noise isnt too bad depending on where you pitch . We have been to about 20 C&MHC sites this year since lockdown and highly rate Teesdale Barnard Castle. 1.The Best Site 2.The Best Location , 3. The Best Wardens 4. Best Fish and Chips .. 5. Best and most interesting friendly place to visit . Also has a really good Specsaver Branch . if you know what we mean .!
