Our second outing as caravanners

Our second run (April)as new caravanners and was to get us out of our local area but give us the chance to do a longer tow, but not too long (1 1/2 hours). The first several nights away trip and the first we used the awning. Mention this as when packing it away the rock pegs were difficult to take out after the dry spell made the ground really hard and after close to an hour tugging, the decision was made to walk to reception and ask for a bit of help. It was during lunch and they would nip round in a bit. Next door arrived back in between and had all the necessary tools. The staff buggy appeared and was happy problem had been solved, but stayed for a nice chat and hints/tips for newbie towers. This was just another example of the friendliness we received from the excellent kept and run site. Great walk through the woods from the end of site, but a bit of a warning to anyone a bit unsure on the legs, it can be a bit difficult in a few places. The market town is a great place to walk around, nice views of the river from inside the castle after a walk down the riverbank and Bowes Museum a cannot miss if you are into that type of thing, we had a four hour visit there. The Three Horseshoes a nice spot for refreshment on a hot day and what was going to be a light snack in the courtyard at the back finished up filling us for the rest of the day.
