Very nice site

Stayed at the site for 4 nights in early August. Our first time at the this site and found it to be a pleasant and convenient place to spend a few days. Wardens as always were very friendly and helpful. I found Tredegar House was much more friendly and relaxed than many other stately houses we have visited and grounds are well worth spending some time just walking. The site itself is well situated for exploring Cardiff and the surrounding area. There is some road noise, being so close to the M4, but we did not find this to be overly intrusive and I would not let that put you off spending some time at this wonderful site.

Terrific stay

This was our first time away in a caravan and we were expecting the worst. We have been camping for years and we are now pretty used to facilities that require a clean or showers that are not up to the job or staff that are clearly only there to cover the holiday period.

Our upgrade to a caravan also clearly means we've upgraded where we stay... we chose Newport because I didn't want to tow very far off the motorway on my first go. It is ideally situated near the motorway and you can hear the traffic off the roundabout junction but unless you are used to living in the middle of no-where this just fades into the background very quickly. We actually do live in the middle of no-where so this was a worry for us - but it honestly was fine.

The facilities were brilliant. Very clean, easy to get to from all parts of the site - even the toilet disposal areas where clean all the time. No smells and I wasn't worried about walking bare foot in the shower.

The staff were the crowning glory though. They couldn't have been more helpful or more kind and generous if they were being inspected. Wonderful people who clearly love their job. This really made the site.

We will certainly be returning.

3rd visit

This is our 3rd visit, yes it's close to the motorway but; I can honestly say the noise didn't spoil anything. The fercilities are as usual spotlessly clean and are a credit to the wardens. The site is set within the grounds of a beautiful park. Asda is just around the corner for everyday essentials plus The Dragonfly over the traffic lights and offers a nice pint. My wife and I would definitely recommend this site.

Great site

Only 40 minutes from home, ideal for a cheeky weekend away. Always a friendly welcome from the wardens, even when you have forgotten to book, (I was sure I had booked) some pitches require levelling blocks. very easy access, only about a mile from the motorway, some road noise can be heard, dies down at night. Grounds of Tredegar House are great, if you have children, take bread for the ducks, If you are lucky you may spot a squirrel or two. always enjoy our time at Tredegar and cant wait for our next time.

Our 'home from home'!

This is our local site (20 miles away!) and we often spend a couple of days here just to chill out. Our grandchildren love visiting us, and enjoy feeding the ducks on the nearby pond, visiting the adjacent playground and generally running around the country park! Tredegar House (NT) is well worth a visit, as are their tea-rooms and shop (which are free to enter). This site is ideal for both caravaners and motor-homers with easy access from M4 (5mins) and good bus links into both Newport & Cardiff. Add friendly wardens and immaculate toilet blocks and you have a recipe for a wonderful short or longer break! Some noise from M4 but not enough to spoil a good night’s sleep!

Third Visit

I use this site for visiting my family and usually have our grandsons to stay with us. They love the site because they can ride their bikes and meet other children. On the Wednesday of our stay the Wardens held a Activity afternoon for the children which was well attended and the boys enjoyed themselves.

Good first visit

This was the first time we have used the site and we were impressed. A smaller site set on a modest hillside with flat pitches and easily reached from the M4. The wardens were excellent as usual and were very patient with our grandson who asked more questions than you would believe possible. The house is worth visiting and easy access to Cardiff and other areas. There is some noise from the motorway particularly during the day but it did not bother us but we live close to the M74 so we are in no position to judge how others might feel about it. If visiting do watch out for the National Trust sign to the caravan site as you approach the house car park as it is very small and in NT dark green so not what you are looking for. Other than that no problems and big Asda down the road for food.

Peaceful and well located.

Being only one hours drive from home, the location of Tredegar House CC Site couldn't be better. So too the welcome and helpfulness of the site staff. With Caerphilly, Caerleon, Usk, and Newport Transporter Bridge and Wetlands each being only a cycle ride away along some traffic free cycle routes, and quiet country lanes, the side is perfect for motor home and other campers with bikes. Whilst we were there the site was full, but peaceful, as was Tredegar House and Gardens, just a stroll away. Wi fi access is excellent, but television reception is poor, so take plenty of games and books if you are expecting poor weather. A weakness of this site when full is the shortage of WCs and dish washing sinks. Queueing can be expected, some of it quite lengthy. The pitches are fairly spacious and have a variety of outlooks. The site is very clean, tidy, and well maintained. A word of warning to cyclists however!! Many of the cycle ways into and around Newport, whilst well constructed and signed, are also strewn with broken glass, as bottle smashing seems to be a favoured pastime of a few of the locals. Occasional cycle portage is recommended. One other bonus if you are staying for several nights, Asda is only a short walk, ride or drive away!!
