Great for families.

We have been to this Site before but wanted to try it again as we want to take our Grandchildren in the Summer and found it great. Showers were open which was a bonus after COVID.clean and tidy as usual. Social distancing observed on the site. Local amenities very handy. Pub and Restaurant just at the edge of the site. Great Fish and Chip Shop 5 mins away. One portion huge which fed two of us. Bus stop near site but did not use it. Large Morrison’s on way to Lowestoft and fantastic fish mongers on same industrial estate. B and M on same road. Site 5 mins from Pebble beach but great for kids. Went to Southwould for the day but it was very busy found out Adnams Brewery just behind main road in centre of town. Brewery tour to be arranged beforehand. All in all a great site, looking forward to another trip in August.

Tired site

Rather poor site, not particularly well kept. Never saw any wardens out and about apart from rubbish emptying. You get the impression that nobody cares about the site. There was a scaffold lorry entering the site that knocked small branches and leaves onto the road. They were still there when we left 2 days later Service point isn’t in the best place, only 1 shower open out of 6 cubicals and 1 wash basin Bird scarer thumping away, Plus side nice walk into Southwold bus about half a mile away and nice weather This is by far the worst caravan club site we have been to.

Another Enjoyable Stay

Over the last forty years we have probably stayed at White House Beach six or seven times. It is a bit "back of beyond" but that in a way that adds to its charm. The site was pretty full during our five night stay but we managed to find a hardstanding pitch on the main site. We didn't use the site toilet blocks on this visit as we are happy to use our own facilities and fortunately we were near a service point. We arrived at about 1.30pm and check in was well organised. The main site motorhome disposal point is quite poor. Not only is it in the wrong place but it is not one of the open grill type disposal point and it is so configured that whatever side you waste point is on you can't get it over the drain! Contrast this with the superb motorhome waste point on the small section of the site across the road. I imagine the Club don't expect people to drive over to the other section to empty their waste? I think it would be good to convert a few more pitches to hardstandings as some of the grass pitches can get waterlogged. We found the site pretty peaceful, the only disturbance (both outside the control of the Club) was the occasional double thump of a bird scarer and on Saturday night the local pub had a live music event. Neither bothered us but some people are more sensitive to noise. As motorhomers we like to leave the van onsite and explore either on foot or by public transport. Both are possible from White House Beach. The couple opposite us told us they had walked to Southwold and got the bus back. Probably above our capabilities but there are some regular bus services from Wash Lane about half a mile from the site. You have a choice of Lowestoft, Norwich or Southwold. We decided to visit Southwold which was an easy journey on the bus. Almost outside the site is the Waterfront restaurant which also does coffee. The pub next door also does food. For shopping there is a Co-Op further up into Kessingland or there is a Morrisons on the A12 towards Lowestoft.

Disapointed

Arrived for a stay 14th June with the weather fantastic but from there on it went down hill. Only 1 toilet block on the main site with massively reduced access. 1 Shower, 1 Sink cubicle and 1 toilet for what was a full site of 62 units. Why! certainly not to meet Covid rules as every other 1 should of been open if that was the case Oh yes the boiler issue which we have read reviews on for some time. On our 3rd day we were to be waken by a really big scaffold lorry delivering building materials to allow repairs to be undertaken WHY why were we not notified that this was going to happen so early in the day. Poor planning. The offending lorry with Radio on parked 5mtrs from us. Very disgruntled and left early. Get a grip someone with this draconian attitude to members.

A lack of Showers.

A lovely site in a beautiful location, and we had a lovely holiday, as we have done previously on this site. We know that covid has necessitated changes to the clubs usual arrangements, and requires us all to maintain greater distances between individuals, and this manifests itself acutely in the ablutions blocks on club sites. We were advised on arrival by the warden that members are being asked to use their own ablutions facilities where possible, and we were happy to accept that in principle. But, I cannot believe that to open only 1 shower cubicle from a row of 6 in the men`s block is acceptable. Other sites are not applying these rules in such a vexatious manner. Only 2 WCs were open, spaced out across a block of 4 cubicles. So why could the same logic not be applied to the showers, as it has been applied at other sites, and allow 3 showers to be open? Only 1 washing cubicle is open, again from 4 in the block. Is this logical? Not 100m from the site gates, is a public toilet operated by the council, where all the facilities are fully open and operating normally without any closed cubicles. Why is the club applying such stringent rules on this site? In the one operational shower for the 62 pitches, there is no stool or seat, and only two small hooks for personal items. Is that satisfactory? Does the club consider if the facilities provided meet the basic hygiene requirements for a site of 62 pitches. Obviously when the ablutions block was built, and then extended, it was considered 6 showers, 4 WCs, and 4 washing cubicles were needed. Why are they now not needed? My wife and I have been members for over 25 years, and have never had cause to complain about anything on any of the many club sites we have stayed over that time, but I do feel strongly about this matter. The facilities currently provided are not sufficient, and I can see that if we do not raise this matter, the club and / or the site wardens - or managers as we now apparently call them- will not reopen the facilities in full when the covid restrictions are lifted. They will be a large CL, but at club full facility site prices. Most of the members staying on site will have had both jabs by now, and we are allowed to make our own decisions about what are acceptable social distances every where else, so why can`t the club open the facilities and allow us do the same in the ablutions block, rather than treat us like children?

Sunshine and tranquility

Arrived dead on 1pm Thursday 10th June - second in queue to enter reception. Chose first pitch south facing to get the evening sunshine. The weather was fantastic, hot and glad to be on the beach all day with dog. Back to caravan early evening for BBQ and to sink a few beers - the perfect weekend - although didn't catch the huge sea bass for the BBQ - haha !! Will sure be back again soon.

Fantastic wardens

Arrived here on 7/06/21 for 3 night stay. Lovely spacious site and great access to bus routes and the sea. Unfortunately on the third day I had quite a bad accident on my cycle near the site entrance. Bryan was on hand straight away to administer first aid and clean up the many cuts and scratches I had sustained both on face and arms, legs etc.He suggested paramedic assistance but I declined as I knew there was nothing broken etc. Also had bruising to ribs and nhs helpline was great support to my condition. Knowing I needed to rest a few days Bryan and Sarah cancelled my next two stays at Buxton and Castleton and managed to provide an extra 3 nights stay here at White House Beach to rest up. Bryan and Sarah visted me several times everyday to check up on me and provide any assistance I needed. What wonderful caring wardens. You are both such a credit to the club. Many thanks to you both.

My wife and i stayed at White House Beach site 1st thru 3rd June 2021.

Welcoming and warm introduction by name as I entered the reception to book in. We had pitch No 2 on the beach side of the club site. Having reported a faulty electric connection at No. 1 peg this was soon attended to by a member of the Site team within 10 mins. The fault determined and rectified quickly and efficiently. My wife and I also had good neighbours during our stay on peg no 3. Steve and Katy They were experienced motorhomers and campers from Sheffield. Very helpful to us in sharing knowledge as we are both novices We thank them for their friendly support. We experienced the waterfront restaurant which we must say was very good both in friendly service and quality of food. The pub next door the Sailors Home again was a friendly experience and the food was typical pub grade. Original ales with a very extensive range were on offer.. General coastline is shingles which ideal for walks and dog exercising (plenty of that going on). The odd patch of fine sand was to be found ideal for the young little campers. Ideal location to watch the sunrise which we did one morning at 0430hrs but alas the clouds spoilt what otherwise would have been and ideal photo opportunity. The site cleanliness was very good and activities carried out daily by the site team could be observed. All in all a very good site which we would and hopefully visit again. Thanks to all whom we met and help make our few days away from the torrid year we all have experienced. Stay safe everyone.. Dave and Lynda

A Lovely Weekend on the Beach

I booked this site at short notice as I wanted a day at the beach. Having read some of the reviews I was a little apprehensive. I arrived late on the Saturday and asked if a booking came free for an extra day, please let me know. Sure enough one came free so I spent the Saturday and Sunday of the late May day 2021 bank holiday weekend here. The wardens were incredibly friendly and helpful and welcoming and everything was COVID19 safe. As a dog owner, I spent my days walking on the beach with my German Shepherd. Not crowded and very beautiful. There's two parts to the site, one field overlooking the sea and the other, where I stayed nearer the town. That part sloped, so I needed to use my levelling wedges. There's not much to the town, Kessingland, but everyone was friendly, there's a fish and chip shop and a couple of pubs. I had a couple of beers and lunch on Sunday at the Sailors Home. The Sailors Home had live music, which whilst I liked it (it featured Blondie and Free covers), I can imagine that some wouldn't.

Great location, shame about the daft shower block rules

Nice site. Good location by the beach. Decided against the beach front pitches as were told NO AWNINGS, NO WINDBREAKS. Walked passed after we had pitched and quite a few vans were on the beach pitches with both of these things up! The shower block on our side was a joke. 1 wash cubicle and 1 shower out of 6 was open! For a site with 122 pitches that’s pathetic. Signs plastered all the over the place saying closed due to Covid restrictions. Even two showers open would have been double the distance for social distancing. No shower curtains, no shelf or a place to put clothes etc safely. Shoes etc got wet. Taking it all a bit far. Not all of us can, or want, to shower etc in our vans. We’ve always enjoyed using the club facilities and pay over the odds to stay at club sites versus cl’s. They’re not providing the facilities but no price adjustment to reflect this. Pub up the road had a band which was nice after so long without live music. Well done to them.
