A great site

A great holiday at White House Beach. The pitches are spacious. The site looked a little scruffy but only because of the extreme dry weather- all the grass was brown - but there’s not a lot can done about that. The showers and loos were spotless, I can’t understand what anyone would complain about? The site staff were friendly and helpful, answering questions even when the office was closed, and even showed me how to use my phone as a hotspot which I was very grateful for. I wouldn’t recommend the beach side pitches, road noise and very public, and I doubt if you can actually see the beach very well? There is lots to do in the area, Southwold is amazing, you can get the bus, 10 minute walk. Canoeing at Beccles also recommended. And don’t forget uk most easterly point is at Lowestoft, behind an industrial estate? A good site for exploring north Suffolk.

Overdue a refit......

Opted to stay here en rte back home from Norfolk Broads Site to visit Southwold & Aldeburgh....... Received a very warm welcome from wardens, always friendly & made time to 'chat'..... defo people's people :-) I personally saw them check on someone with mobility issues shortly after they arrived, nice personal touch that. Site is looking tired but obviously not helped by the extreme weather we have experienced but facilities always kept clean. The beach front part is some 2/300 metres from sea so I don't get the clamor to be there to be battered by the wind! The main site pitches are much more user friendly, we were lucky to probably have 1 of the more spacious (117). Couldn't get booked in to the Waterfront over the 4 nights we were there, so make sure you book in advance of your stay..... Opted for the fish & chips, the night the pizza van visited & wasn't disappointed...... superb non oily batter & the best chips. I had the skate (£6.75) which I hadn't had in probably 30 years as all our local chippies sell is cod & haddock at around £10 so was definitely value for money..... As others have said, nothing much to do locally apart from Afica Alive.

Just back from a lovely weekend. ❤️

We are just back from a lovely long weekend at the White House Beech Club Campsite. We were meant to be away doing something else this weekend but our plans were unexpectedly cancelled & we had a mad scramble to find somewhere else to go. We used the club last minute booking search & booked this campsite without reading the reviews first. We read the reviews & wondered if it was going to be ok, but as it was a last minute thing, we had no choice but to go ahead. And boy, were we glad we turned up! The campsite location was great, we weren’t on the beech side of the campsite but you could still hear the waves at nighttime, it was lovely listening to them as we drifted off to sleep. The campsite itself was a lovely setting & the beech was huge & a really beautiful lunar style beech. Very atmospheric. The Beech Fish & Chip restaurant served up a really good fish & chips. The campsite staff were also really friendly. Please don’t listen to the bad reviews, we have come to the conclusion that some people aren’t happy unless they are complaining. There is nothing wrong with the shower/toilet block & they DON’T smell. We both agreed we will be back next year. Nichola & Peter (AKA Mr & Mrs Fog).

Kessingland memories

Always a treat to be at the beach, great new wardens, very helpful, very clean site and very friendly. Although the kids play area is now shut down, Abbey will love her memories of it (and bars) for years to come.... Great few days away and we will return as always...

Quiet site by the beach with good access to pub and restaurant

Had a nice stay here in August for 4 nights and surprised by the negative reviews. We stayed in the main site rather than on the beach. Showers were powerful, clean and roomy. Staff friendly and helpful. True there isn't alot to do in the immediate vicinity and at first glance we felt the area lacked a bit of charm BUT the kids and dog enjoyed the quiet beach with swimming and a bit of body boarding on the windier days. There is the Sailors Home pub and Waterfront Restaurant just a minute walk from the site. Pub has selection of ales to choose from and we had a great meal at the Waterfront (book ahead if you can). Fish and chip shop 5 min walk. Coop and the bakery is a bit of a walk and there is a Morrison's about 3miles up the road. Its a 20 min drive to Southwold with dog friendly sandy beach and dunes at the Southern end; also recommend Walberswick for crabbing. Will probably be back at some point - as a stopping off point as part of touring rather than as a destination in itself.

Good week

Nice site, well kept. Wardens are to little too intense on arrival. Car and caravan needed attention due to bird waste and insects after a 6 hour journey . Clean water only was used to remove but was questioned. Overall excellent week and a well run site

Not the clubs finest

We needed a seaside site to bring our grandson away for a few days. Kessingland looked ideal. However, its far from the clubs finest site. Great wardens, liked the fastrack entry system they’ve devised, a few others would benefit from similar (Bunree notably). As others have commented the site is looking tired, although not helped by the current weather, or lack of it. Being seaside you’d expect a site geared towards children, yet there’s no playground!! Leaving the kids nothing to do but race around on electric scooters all day. On the main site the only toilets are at the back, little did we know that just over the fence is the local sewage works, so the aroma is just about permanent. Having our son and grandson in a tent meant we needed to be near the loos. Kessingland itself has very little, in fact Nothing, in the way of normal seaside stuff. Even the local shop is a fair walk. The one good thing was Afrika Alive just up the road. Having visited Whipsnade and Edinburgh zoo’s in recent times, both looking shabby and half empty, Afrika Alive was way better. Well worth a visit, and the highlight of our trip. Unfortunately we’re unlikely to visit Kessingland again.
