Good for families

A little gem!

Stayed for 3 nights in early July whilst touring Anglia. Good access from the main roads; the road does narrow as you approach the site and there are some parked vehicles but with a little patience and care, it is not a problem. We chose the non-beach side as, whilst being on the beach has lovely views, it is very exposed to the weather/winds, whereas the other side is very sheltered and peaceful. So much so, we observed 2 young deer one morning in the woodland right behind our outfit. The beach is at the site entrance and stretches as far as the eye can see in each direction, so great for walks and dogs. It also extends down to a nature reserve (south). Pitches were all generous size and level; just a little spot of weeding required but this is being picky! The wardens were particularly friendly and welcoming upon arrival and during our stay. The shower block is a little tired and there are no shelves in the shower cubicles for wash bags, personal items etc. Just outside of the main entrance gate is the Waterfront Restaurant (which we did not visit on this occasion but it offers lunches and evening meals in a nice setting), the Sailor's Home Pub (which we did visit on a number of occasions - this is one of those businesses which has tackled Covid-19 restrictions very effectively - over half of the car park has been covered with Astroturf and tables/chairs, planters, canopies, parasols etc, so lots of places to sit and enjoy a drink or very good value meal. The pub is attended by 4 very nice ladies who were extremely efficient, so there was no waiting for service. It comes highly recommended). There is a fish and chip shop 5 minutes walk from the site, doing eat-in or take-away. Of all the sites we visited on this trip, this was our favorite and we hope to return again soon.
