Second visit

This was our second visit to Yellowcraig and we were just as impressed this time as last time. Excellent play area for children and very close to the beach. One drawback this visit had nothing to do with the site, but our pitch backed on to a field which was ploughed and then tilled while we were there. It resulted in our car, caravan and awning being absolutely covered in fine soil after a very windy night, lol. Took the train in to Edinburgh from North Berwick - very cheap. Visited Tantallon Castle and Dunbar. Lots to do and places to visit. We will definitely be back. I am shocked that anyone would say it is not very child friendly when there is a lovely play area on site and an even better play area just a 5minute walk away on the way to the beach!

a great site

we have been visiting this site, on and off for around 45 years and we are still amazed at how much we enjoy it - it was just about full when we were there over the easter weekend but it still worked like clockwork - no hastle and plenty to do - the area is a joy with a beautiful beach and excellent walks - great place for dogs- the little town is still the same after all the years we have visited and my wife enjoys pottering around the shops - can't understand how anybody could think it was a boring site or area

Wonderful Friendly Site

We stayed here for the 1st time at the end of October and I couldn't fault it.  The wardens are really lovely and very helpful and the site is immaculate. Great position with lots of walking and very dog friendly too with a large dog walking area. Very easy to walk down to the beach from the site or to one of the pubs in the local village for a bite to eat. Can't wait to go back!

October half term

Just returned from a wonderful 6 nights at Yellowcraig.  The location is perfect... regular trains from North Berwick to Edinburgh take only 30 mins or so direct into Waverley station.  5 minutes walk and you are on a stunning beach - great for walking.  Friendly wardens were very helpful and the facilities top notch - very clean and warm.  Plenty of space and a nice little play area that our 6 yr old son enjoyed.

Great Location

Spent the weekend at site this recently. It's a great location being just a short walk from the beach and Dirleton village. The site is well kept and cared for and appears smaller than it actually is due to the clever use of berms and hedging to separate the site into distinct pitching areas. Clean and warm facilities with, luxury of luxuries, showers that provide a decent flow and don't require constant button pushing. The only slight fly in the ointment was being lectured on arrival (well before 20:00 on a Friday evening) for having the temerity to turn up, in late October, without an advance booking, as we interrupted the warden's evening meal. As we work for a living and usually set off after work, we prefer not to book in advance in case we're unable to arrive before the latest check-in time (we do check in advance that there is availability though). Can't see any reference in the rules or by-laws to say an advance booking is a requirement either. However, this did not detract from the quality of the site itself and we would return.

Happy times

We have been to Yellowcraig quite a few times and have always enjoyed it having to Standard Poodles you need some place to burn off energy and the dog walk is perfect well manicured and but for the few dog owners that think it is perfectly all right to walk away from their dogs dirt , so I would say get some big signs up telling dog owners to clean up after there dogs , maybe a description of the illnesses it can cause to children and other animals may help , to the staff thanks again for a nice time , regards Ken Crombie

Peaceful Autumnal Break

First time I have visited this site. Put it off earlier in the year for a second trip to Marragowan. Weather forecast was good so off we went on 15th October for a six night stay. A good choice an excellent site loved walking the dog on the beach daily. First night fireworks were let off nearby in Archerfield which traumatised my dog something that happens quite often I have heard. Facilities were excellent new playpark for the kids also a council park in Yellowcraig woods. Pitches were limited when I arrived (schools were still off on holiday) but did get a hardstanding pitch. Rabbits were numerous but not a problem until they dropped dead on the spot, might be upsetting for the children. Wifi was a problem, there was none. Hope this can be remedied before return trip next year. East Fortune Museum of Flight will be completed in March 2016. Will visit there again as well, another good day out for the family. To late for a visit to the Bass Rock hope to catch that next year. Wardens very helpful got my rolls and paper every morning.

3rd visit this year and despite wardens horrendous attitude will be back

We visited again for our 3rd visit this year as our 4 young children, dog, grandparents and overall as a family, love the location of the site and the walks etc in the area are fantastic. Unfortunately our arrival on site was met by the most horrendous attitude I have ever experienced on arriving at a site. I know rules have to be followed but the circumstances surrounding the situation did not warrant the reaction from the site team. If it had been my first visit I would've seriously reconsidered revisiting. Fortunately I don't really have to have much contact with the site personnel, who obviously need some customer contact training. I stay on caravan club sites because they are mostly well managed but the staff on site have to realise that we as customer deserve to be treated in a civil manner and not spoken to as if we are children!
