Some hopefully helpful details
It's not worth me saying how popular this site is, or how well located it is, but some more pragmatic details might be helpful.
We found that a ten minute walk from the site got us into the city centre, but that does require a short flight of steps or a road crossing, if mobility is an issue.
The local shops (accessed by the back gate) recently won best high street, and it is well deserved. As well as a Sainsburys local (long opening hours), there is an excellent greengrocer, deli, baker and butcher, fish and chips, Dominos and several cafes. The hardware and kitchenware stores are also useful.
The city tour bus also goes along this road (Bishopthorpe Rd), so helpful if you wanted to try this.
No play area or dog walk, but given the excellent Rowntree Park is next door, that's not a disadvantage.
It's also the best shower block on the network in our view, even on Easter Bank Hols, not only was there no queue, there was a choice of free showers.
We'll be going back, it's definitely worth spending and hour one morning in December getting booked!
