Wonderful site

Excellent site location  is spot on. The staff have worked well to clean up after the floods. Well done.   Booked in on the 26th Feb  was very impressed  with the  new booking in procedure.Allowing you to find a pitch, then book in after.  Saved all the hassle  of no back up of caravans on the very tight road to the entrance.   Thank you  York

Birthday weekend

Went to Rowntree Park for 2 nights to celebrate my birthday.  Have been many times before and as always had an excellent time.  The site itself is a little cramped but for a motorhome it is an excellent location as easy walking distance of city.  Good for dog lovers as walks from directly outside site.  Only gripe is that it is so difficult to get a pitch at the weekend.

Enjoyable stay once again.

Another enjoyable stay at rowntree, the bookin in system works really well, and met by very friendly wardens.  Just a couple of moans about members who cannot understand the arrival time of twelve noon, some arrived at 11.30 not givin the wardens chance to finish the toilet block,  so unfair on other members who do abide by the rules our sat nav told us we would arrive early so we pulled into a layby and waited. As for the review about the water been a problem  and not seein the signs,  these were clearly on on the outer doors for at least 5 of 7 days we were there.!! Good site good location.

Lovely time

We had a great time. Perfect location by the river, a short walk/cycle into the city centre and pleasant walks/cycles along the river banks. Good facilities warm showers clean toilet block, friendly polite (busy) wardens.  This is a very popular site so we were allocated our pitch, which was fine, as it was just what we wanted. We would have liked longer, but sadly we had to squeeze our booking in to their very full schedule. Definitely recommended.

Not our best visit

As regular visitor to Rowntree Park we know our way about but found the recently introduced new system unhelpful and disappointing. A warden met us and asked for our membership card which we duly supplied in return for a site plan "Find a white peg, pitch and come back and pay".  When we asked where they were we were told " No idea, I've been cleaning toilets - look at the plan!".  I understand arrivals need to be cleared quickly at Rowntree so as not to block the road but a list of available spaces would surely not have been so difficult. As there is nowhere to park up to check availability we joined the many peering over hedges etc to find the elusive pegs (hidden in corners rather than the centre of the pitch). It's not the easiest site to drive around due to some tight bends so watch out. By the time we found one we were pretty stressed and annoyed. We felt allocation would have been preferable to this system.   There were signs on all doors warning of forthcoming hot water disruption, however we didn't see the notice boards till too late ie, we were stripped off, that the problem was low water pressure and almost cold water in the showers. We only tried them once. Overall, this was our most disappointing visit ever to York. We are booked for New Year and hoping things change. We noted too that there are plans for a 105 bedroom hotel to be built on the old Riverside site. This will really overlook the site and spoil it for everyone.

Book Early For Rowntree Park

A fantastic site. With only a 10 minute walk from Rowntree Park your right in the centre of York. The site is very peaceful considering it's location is so close to the city, the facilities are immaculate and everything is very clean and tidy. It's taken me quite a few goes to get booked onto Rowntree Park as it is very popular. Think ahead and book early, it's well worth a visit.

Very welcoming

We  have just had a lovely 6day stay on this site and can not complain about anything. The wardens are very friendly and helpfull. We have visited the site on many occasions and have found it to be a very nice site. The toilets and showers are immaculately clean. And its only a 10 minute walk Into the centre of York. What more can u ask for.

Fantastic site

We were welcomed on arrival and given friendly, informative instruction on navigating the site. The site is only 10 minutes walk from the city centre, with a great park behind the site with good play area for kids. We stayed three nights and did not use the car until departing as everything you need is in walking distance. The staff are very friendly and helpful, with excellent shower and toilet facilities. We will return, many thanks for a great stay
