Our first visit to York Rowntree Park and hope it won’t be our last. Brilliant site, clean and well looked after. Lovely wardens. Next to beautiful Rowntree park for walks. 15 mins walk into city centre for the Minster, museums and delightful shopping. Highly recommend!
The back gate locked at 10pm???
The site is fabulous and in a great location however a continuing annoyance is the insistence on locking the back gate at 10pm. This should be changed to 11pm or even midnight. We all have a key so why insist on padlocking when the front remains open to pedestrians????
Sunday Morning
Why or why do they think it appropriate to trim Beech hedges on a Sunday morning @ 10.00AM. Noisy petrol strimmer which made one hell of a racket, both myself and my neighbour ( neither of us had a hangover thank goodness) thought it was outrageous!
Good Site but a little crowded
This site cannot be faulted for cleanliness & efficiency. The river & park close by really are a bonus. The one & only small whinge (personal description) is that both myself & wife would have liked a bit more space between pitches because it felt a little overcrowded. Having said that, people that are not as claustrophobic as us would give this site 5 stars just as we have.
Great stay
We were pitched at the back due to the ongoing flood works, 2am on two morning awoke by youths and girls screaming and talking and lads with a bouncing football for over an hour in the still of night, here we are doing everything asked to prevent noise to the local residents and yet we have two seriously disturbed nights
Great site, fantastic location
First time here and I was expecting it to be a bit manic for a city location. However, the staff have helped to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere which sets the tone for the feel of this site. Spacious pitches and the facilities are spotless. Great location for sightseeing, eating, bars, cycling and walking. Superb.
loved this site
spent 4 day weekend here in April, really nice clean well kept site handy for walking into York, and all local shops, pubs and take aways in easy wakjing distance. Had some nice walks along the river and into Rowntree Park which is next door, the local chippy was very handy, couldnt understand why the back gate which is locked and everyone is given a key too, was actually padlocked at 10pm, just doesnt seem logical.
Will definitely return.
Finally! We managed to visit in our fourth attempt due to flooding previously we got cancelled.
Loved our visit. Smooth check in. Helpful friendly wardens. Noticed in another review they said the disabled toilet was out of use while toilets being cleaned , we were told we could use so don’t understand this but didn’t have to, as generally out and about.
We had to go out back gate which meant walk was a bit longer into York but this really didn’t hinder us much.
Not the cheapest but it’s almost a city centre location. Not for children really, not much for them to do (thank goodness :/ ) Site neat and tidy and clean. Facilities spotless.
Booked back in for November for market and can’t wait. Recommended. Our favourite city.
Here again.
Regular visitors to this well maintained site.
Good being let in to pick pitch then pay.
Efficient staff in reception.no idea why back gate padlocked at 10pm,are people that noisy they would disturb residents ?
Toilet block closed for long time, few years ago you could use disabled but not anymore, wonder why ?
York busy as usual.
Like all sites getting a bit expensive. To make up for lost revenue during lockdown I expect.
That said we will continue to use due to proximity to york.
Great site location
Just got back from this site only second visit to this site in 9 years due to the high demand and members constantly booking pitches and not turning up and cancellations think it’s time for the club to start to take deposit to stop this on a lot of. Sites to give other members a chance to get to visit them yes I also do agree the price is very expensive just payed £144 for 3 nights overall it is getting on all the club sites now when you break it down the cost per night you can get on other non caravan club sites a lot cheaper and to the same standard so I must admit I think this might be my last renewal of my membership most sites now for service pitches I’ve been to for 2 adults is on average £30-£35 and I think the club now is getting far to expensive and you can’t always get on the sites anyhow
