Superb Site thanks to Hands On Owners and friendly staff

A superb site as befits the Castels Brand. We stayed 3 nights and could easily have stayed more. In fact we enjoyed site so much that we didnt bother going off site much. There was a farmers market visiting on Thurs evening and butcher offered to take orders for delivery on Sat. The owners are always around and make you very welcome giving out information. There is a lovely swimming pool with a garden setting and nice sun beds etc. Facilities are excellent and arranged in the various out buildings of chateau. Toilets etc are very modern and tastefully arranged inside the historic buildings. There is a nice bar/restaurant and small shop. The atmosphere on site was aamazing and on Sat evening most of us attended the site BBq to celebrate Bastille day. This was a fabulous evening and ended with torch light parade and fireworks in local village. We will defnitely return. Andy

Got this place completely wrong!

Booked this site really on the strength of the previous reviews, and have to confess to being a little underwhelmed when we arrived. Did not really seem to be much too it but I was completely wrong. Owners excellent - really involved. Loads to do. We were really sorry not to be there for the BBQ but really enjoyed a beer and wondering around the market on the Thursday evening which was excellent. Site facilities also excellent - really clean and modern toilets and showers. All in all highly recommended and well worth a visit!

Superb Site with lots of extra little touches

We stay here en route to the Dordogne most years. It is a fabulous site, spacious, large pitches, beautiful grounds, lots of flowers etc etc and etc! The welcome is the best you'd get anywhere and all facilities are excellent. This is a stop off for us but we'd stay longer for a relaxing break. There are lots of facilities for children and plenty of space for them to play, in separate areas, not beside pitches. The bar area and outdoor seating areas at the chateau are lovely and this year for the first time we availed ourselves of the restaurant. It too was excellent. We also enjoyed one or two strawberries from the herb garden. There are various herbs and fruit etc that you are allowed to take. Just one of those special little touches. I can't fault this site in any way and we see that every year there is further investment.

Outstanding!

Beautiful location. Excellent, welcoming staff. Plenty of space with caravans arranged around the perimeter of the fields. Delicious food from the on-site restaurant and take-away. Relaxing outdoor area near the bar behind the Chateau with seats and shade. Large wooded grounds with lake and walks. Swimming pool and kids play area. Probably the best caravan site we have ever stayed on. If Carlsberg did caravan sites....

Picturesque, friendly and relaxing

Stayed for a few days in July. Friendly and helpful welcome with info to take and read. Lovely patio area extended onto the lawns with canopies to sit under and sip a glass of wine or a coffee. Small restaurant open each evening - bit disappointing - and small shop and games room. Lovely lawned pool area and ladies and gents showers and toilets. Not much in the local town but a few lovely towns a little drive away and vey close to Le Mans. Would definitely return - many others we met we on return visits.

Exquisite Chateau

The best campsite we visited. Did not want to leave. From the booking in until the leaving we could not fault the site at all. Saturday evening's barbeque was so much fun with everyone sitting together and cooking their food on the shared barbeques. For the first time I joined my husband fishing (I am usually persona non grata) with our two little dogs and thoroughly enjoyed watching him catch over 25 fish in a couple of hours. Will definitely return next year.

Return visit

In all our years of caravanning we have never returned to any site, we like variety and change, Chanteloup is the FIRST site we have ever broke our rule for and returned to, simply because the site is well laid out, the owner is SO friendly, facilities are clean and well looked after. The site was quiet during our stay but would expect it to be busy during Le Mans circuit activities which will only add to the ambience of the site, granted probably not the cheapest site but if you want cheap then stay on an "Aire", if you want relaxation, respect from the owner and his staff with excellent facilities in a good location then I cannot recommend this site enough, travelling south from Caen was very easy and quick, we will be back but for the Bastille day celebrations which we missed by 1 night this year unfortunately. Thank you.

Excellent welcoming site and lots of extra touches

Having been here several times en route to the Dordogne, we knew we’d be given a wonderful, warm welcome. On our return visit the lovely welcome came, even though there was torrential rain! The owner came out with his umbrella, walked us to our pitch and still stopped to have a little chat. He even parked us across 2 pitches so we could remain hitched up! Unbeatable customer services. And that’s just the welcome. This is a beautiful, spacious site with excellent facilities. There were fresh flowers in the large shower block and very good individual washing cabins with huge mirrors and well placed lights above. There were even lower sinks for children and hairdryers. The bar in the chateau and terrace are a lovely place to sit on a night – great atmosphere. The pool and pool area seemed to be very good – we didn’t use them. The pitches are set out in a huge circle – think cowboys and Indians. Very unusual but you have plenty of space either side of your outfit and no-one in front of you, so a massive space to put out your table, chairs and recliners. Surrounding you are specimen trees and gorgeous flower beds. Once pitched, we opened the window and we had perfume of the roses in the ‘van. In one of the areas there is a herb garden and you are invited to use whatever herbs, tomatoes, radishes you need for a meal. It also looks to be a great site for families and children. There is a swings etc area and little log cabin village for the little ones, a trampoline, large playing field with goal posts and a volley ball net as well as an outdoor gym equipment area. Can’t fault this site in any way!

Lovely site

We stayed here on route to the Verendee. Staff were extremely helpful, great choice of pitches. Spacious and enough for the children to do with inflatables, forest dens and pools. Facilities were excellent. Very quiet and peaceful. Would stay again.

Beautiful site with lovely facilities

Of six sites we stayed at in France August 2016 this was by far the most picturesque. Large but not crowded, we were offered a choice of pitches and once on site we visited the restaurant and enjoyed the nicest pizzas we've ever eaten! The chateau is stunning and is the base for reception, eating and drinking, and some bathroom facilities, although there was a smaller block closer to our pitch, both were clean and spacious. The pool was fabulous and staff were friendly and welcoming, we only wished we'd had time to stay longer and definitely plan to return one day!
