Have an Egg-cellent Easter break with the Caravan and Motorhome Club

05/02/2020

From the beauty of the Welsh coastline to the tranquillity of the North of England, look no further than these Club campsites which offer something for everyone.

Here are the Caravan and Motorhome Club’s top campsites for families, couples and dog-friendly Easter getaways:

Great for couples

Carmarthenshire

The largest county in Wales, Carmarthenshire offers lots of greenery and vast beaches. Known as the ‘Gold Coast of Wales’, why not explore the longest beach in Wales, Cefn Sidan, with over eight miles of sand to enjoy.

Be sure to stop by the coastal town of Burry Port too, which is well-known as the landing spot of Amelia Earhart, the first woman to fly across the Atlantic. The beautiful Aberglasney Gardens is running an Easter Explorer treasure hunt that’s perfect for those looking to enjoy the beauty of the gardens whilst getting into the Easter spirit.

Stay at Pembrey Country Park Club Site from £43.40 per night, based on two adults sharing a standard pitch. Located within 520 acres of woodland, the campsite has recently undergone a major redevelopment with 12 new serviced pitches and also neighbours a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course and dry ski-slope, so it is no wonder it is one of the most popular on the Club’s network.

Devon

With award-winning beaches and the wild moorland of Exmoor National Park, Devon has a wealth of natural beauty and activities to suit all. The rugged coastline of Woolacombe Bay is the perfect setting for adventure seekers learning to surf, and Croyde Beach is great for kids.

Exmoor is recognised as one of the leading locations in the UK for keen walkers, cyclists and horse riders. When tired of exploring, the historic villages of Clovelly or Mortehoe are perfect spots for taking a quiet break and enjoying an iconic Devonshire cream tea. There are a number of stunning walking trails across Devon, with a spring nature trail running through Heddon valley from 6 to 18 April.

Stay at the Ilfracombe Club Site from £16.00 per night, based on two adults sharing a standard pitch. Conveniently nestled three miles inland from Ilfracombe, this spacious campsite has panoramic views across both coastline and the stunning inland scenery. An on-site play area makes it a great spot for kids, and little ones will also love rock-pooling at the nearby Hele Bay.

Ideal for Families

Cornwall

The most south-westerly of the English counties, Cornwall is steeped in beauty, heritage and adventure. Take a visit to the mythical land of Tintagel Castle, said to be the birthplace of King Arthur, and explore the magical surroundings of Merlin’s cave. Kids will love hunting for eggs in the stunning grounds of Trerice, as part of their annual Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt.

For those keen to spend time getting closer to nature, visit The Eden Project in the north of county. The size of 30 football pitches and home to the largest indoor rainforest in the world, there is endless fun to be had for all ages.

Stay at Treamble Valley Club Site from £33.90 per night, based on two adults and two children sharing a standard pitch. A fantastic location for wildlife enthusiasts, the campsite offers the chance to spot rabbits, buzzards, bats and owls, and is perfectly positioned for sunsets with stunning sea views.

The Lake District

As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Lake District setting provides a range of activities that will leave everyone entertained this Easter. Try cycling or rock climbing for the more adventurous, or pony treks or birdwatching for nature lovers.

Whilst Coniston Water and Coniston Pier both provide excellent spots to try windsurfing, canoeing and sailing, they are also some of the most idyllic locations to simply recharge and watch the boats float by.

Stay at Coniston Park Coppice Club Site from £37.60 per night, based on two adults and two children sharing a standard pitch. Set within 63 acres of beautiful National Trust woodland and just 400 yards from the lively Coniston Water, Coniston Park Coppice works as a scenic base for an adventurous, action-packed family getaway.

Perfect for furry friends

Gloucestershire

Known as the ‘Capital of the Cotswolds’, Cirencester is the perfect spot for a spring-time break with four-legged friends. The market town sits in the heart of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and makes a great base for enjoying all the Cotswolds has to offer.

Visitors can wander through the ‘wolds’, explore honey-coloured villages and enjoy sampling local produce at the many markets. Dog-friendly wildlife attraction Birdland will be running a week of egg-themed events for Easter, with dozens of new birds set to hatch, and a number of Easter-themed quizzes and challenges. There are also, of course, miles of beautiful countryside walks for dogs (and their owners!) to enjoy.

Stay at Cirencester Park Club Site from £31.40 per night, based on two adults sharing a standard pitch with their furry friend(s). Another campsite in a great, dog-friendly location within Cirencester Park in the Bathurst Estate. An onsite dog wash and dog walk, as well as the campsite’s location within the unspoilt countryside of the Cotswolds, make it a great spot for furry friends.

North Yorkshire

The northern region of ‘God’s Country’, North Yorkshire is a haven for dog-friendly holidays with limitless fun to be had. Head to the North York Moors National Park, with its 1,400 miles of natural beauty, to find an endless array of dog walks to choose from; alternatively, take a walk through the ruins of Whitby Abbey, said to be the inspiration behind Dracula.

Explore the gem of North Yorkshire with a trip to picturesque Harrogate and stop by The Harrogate Tap. Dogs are welcome in this brilliant bar and it offers over 130 different types of bottled beer from around the world.

Combine a visit to this region with a stay at Scarborough West Ayton Club Site from £32.40 per night, based on two adults sharing a standard pitch with their furry friend(s). The campsite has a dog walk on-site and is just a 15-minute drive from Scarborough town centre.
