Walking Wanderers Walk of the Month Broadway
11/12/2025
The Caravan and Motorhome Club is delighted to launch the first chapter of its new Walking Wanderers – Walk of the Month series at Broadway UK Club Campsite in the Cotswolds. The series begins here because Broadway is home to The Wanderer, the world’s first leisure caravan, making it the perfect starting point for a series inspired by the spirit of gentle adventure and discovery that the caravan represents. The initiative encourages members to step outside, enjoy the outdoors and experience the physical and mental benefits of walking in beautiful surroundings. The featured walk from Broadway Club Campsite leads to the iconic Broadway Tower, offering walkers sweeping views across the Cotswolds and the chance to reconnect with nature at a relaxed, restorative pace.
Walking Wanderers is the Club’s invitation to move more, explore further and enjoy the simple pleasure of walking. Each month, members can log their miles, share favourite routes and discover new inspiration from the community. Participation also brings the opportunity to win monthly prizes, adding a playful, rewarding element to every step. The series takes its name and spirit from The Wanderer, reflecting the joy of thoughtful exploration and the excitement of discovering new places at a comfortable pace. Members can join the initiative and share their walking adventures at Walking Wanderers.
Broadway UK Club Campsite, located in the heart of Broadway village in the Cotswolds, provides an ideal base for walkers of all levels. The site offers direct access to the Cotswold Way and is close to local cafés, shops and the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway. Facilities including dedicated dog walks, laundry and motorhome service points make it a comfortable starting point for both short village strolls and longer hikes into the surrounding countryside.
The first Walk of the Month is a circular route of approximately 9km, gradually ascending from Broadway village to Broadway Tower on Beacon Hill. Walkers can expect a journey of just over two hours at a relaxed pace, enjoying a mix of open countryside, woodland paths and panoramic vistas. Points of interest along the route include the Bomber Crash Memorial and the Morris & Brown café at the tower, perfect for a restorative pause before returning to the village along quieter woodland paths. The route has been designed to give walkers a sense of achievement, while supporting wellbeing and encouraging gentle, regular activity.
Broadway UK Club Campsite also holds a special place in the Club’s heritage. Its restored 1904 Goods Shed houses two historic caravans: The Wanderer, commissioned by Dr William Gordon Stables in 1884/85 and HRH The Prince Philip’s 1993 Fleetwood Garland caravan. The campsite provides a meaningful backdrop for the first Walk of the Month, celebrating the legacy of early touring pioneers and the joy of exploring at a leisurely pace.
Members are invited to join the Walking Wanderers challenge, log their miles, share their favourite routes, and follow updates at Walking Wanderers | The Caravan Club and on social media via #WalkingWanderers.
