Why stay here ...

A very small, rustic site located in the Bauges Natural Park, Le Taillefer is the ideal spot for a relaxing holiday offering spectacular views of the mountains around Lake Annecy. The small bar serves breakfast every morning, or you can order fresh bread and pastries from the local bakery. In keeping with the site’s tranquil atmosphere, no entertainment is offered.

There’s no shortage of activities in the area, from walking and cycling paths to boat excursions on the lake and water sports. Annecy is a charming town with colourful buildings and a 12th century castle, and the nearby Jardins de l’Europe are relaxing and pretty.

Great location.

Le Taillefer
Spent 10 days here. Facilities a little bit dated but perfectly acceptable. Location is great on a hill overlooking the lake. Good centre for exploring the locality although roads around the lake can be busy especially with cyclists. Small supermarkets nearby for provisions but bread can be ordered daily from reception. Chemical toilet and grey waste facilities were excellent.

Very clean site, but very dated

Le Taillefer
The site is kept very clean and the owners very helpful. Unfortunately this site was not for us, very quiet and not as close to the lake as we thought.

Gorgeous!

Le Taillefer
This site was all the reviews suggested it would be, and we had a great 13 nights here. Close to so much: French Alps, loads of other gently demanding walking terrain, Annecy and other shopping etc, lakes (with access), cycling (bikes for hire, if wanted) ... and lots of peace and quiet. Beautifully run and, for our tastes, quite up-to-date enough. Great!

A little gem....

Le Taillefer
This is a fantastic little site. The description 'rustic' is accurate but dont let that put you off. We had a great pitch which had both sun and shade which suited us perfectly particularly as our dog travels with us. We did get some noise from the adjacent much larger site but nothing too bad at all and nothing too late into the night. My lead wouldn't reach the electric point but a long extension lead was readily loaned by the owners and for this they did not charge. The facilities are perhaps in need of updating, in particular the mens showers which are very small and cramped but they are kept spotlessly clean as are the toilets and dish washing areas The site is family owned and run and the owners speak excellent English. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The area around the site is just stunning and there are various places to visit in the locality. Particularly Annecy, Thones and Sevrier. Doussard nearby has a handy small supermarket (Carrefour Contact from memory), if you need a vet there is one close by in Doussard, the site owner will arrange an appointment for the tapeworm treatment if you wish though we did this ourselves. We didn't try the bar or any meals on site so cannot comment on them. We will definitely be returning to this area and this site.

Don't hesitate to book this peaceful site!

Le Taillefer
The site is accurately described, and we also found the owners to be very helpful. Lovely location with either lake or mountain views, both if you're lucky. Access is a little tricky for larger outfits, easier from Doussard direction, but if you follow the CC directions, don't be put off - just hope you don't meet someone leaving the site on the narrow bit!
