Why stay here ...

A very small, rustic site located in the Bauges Natural Park, Le Taillefer is the ideal spot for a relaxing holiday offering spectacular views of the mountains around Lake Annecy. The small bar serves breakfast every morning, or you can order fresh bread and pastries from the local bakery. In keeping with the site’s tranquil atmosphere, no entertainment is offered.

There’s no shortage of activities in the area, from walking and cycling paths to boat excursions on the lake and water sports. Annecy is a charming town with colourful buildings and a 12th century castle, and the nearby Jardins de l’Europe are relaxing and pretty.

Pleasant basic site

Le Taillefer
Nice little site. Very friendly helpful owner. Mostly shady pitches, most separated by tree markers not hedges or shrubs. Clean facilities. Showers are cramped but adequate. Bread etc pre-ordered and collect following morning, local bakery appears permanently closed. Doussard has all necessary services including a busy bar and pleasant bistro. Not much within walking distance other than big commercial sites that have bars and fast food. We found the area generally lacked reasonably priced cafes/bars/restaurants - it's all gone a bit too upmarket since we were last there. But you do have the beauty of the Alps which makes it worth it. A couple of warnings Make sure you approach site from traffic lights in Brédannaz. Don't take the first entrance into the site but istead go past the reception courtyard and then enter the site at the next entrance which is signed Entree. If your outfit is tall, some of the trees have substantial overhangs which could cause damage - we were nearly caught out.

Charming site but upgrades needed

Le Taillefer
Lovely small site with plenty of shade, all grass pitches and great views. The owner was extremely helpful and pleasant, managing well despite being on crutches with a broken leg. The two washrooms were very clean but in need of refurbishment, male showers are very cramped, also one lacked a soap dispenser. Water and disposal facilities are good. Old Annecy is lovely and the drive ( or ride) around the lake is most rewarding not to mention the hang/paragliders floating down from the mountains on both sides. The site is not aimed at children. We had a very pleasant stay and some of the uk campers that we spoke to had stayed here many times before.

Great location.

Le Taillefer
Spent 10 days here. Facilities a little bit dated but perfectly acceptable. Location is great on a hill overlooking the lake. Good centre for exploring the locality although roads around the lake can be busy especially with cyclists. Small supermarkets nearby for provisions but bread can be ordered daily from reception. Chemical toilet and grey waste facilities were excellent.

Very clean site, but very dated

Le Taillefer
The site is kept very clean and the owners very helpful. Unfortunately this site was not for us, very quiet and not as close to the lake as we thought.

Gorgeous!

Le Taillefer
This site was all the reviews suggested it would be, and we had a great 13 nights here. Close to so much: French Alps, loads of other gently demanding walking terrain, Annecy and other shopping etc, lakes (with access), cycling (bikes for hire, if wanted) ... and lots of peace and quiet. Beautifully run and, for our tastes, quite up-to-date enough. Great!
