Why stay here ...

Le Lac is a delightful small site with idyllic views of the lake after which it is named.

There is no entertainment on site and the emphasis is on peace and quiet. On-site facilities include a good swimming pool, a convivial bar/restaurant. Ideal for couples and young families who are looking to relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the lake and its surrounding area.

The beautiful city of Vannes is close at hand, with its fine Gothic Cathedral of St Pierre and its medieval quarters. Closer still, Auray is well worth a visit, with its pretty harbour of St Goustan, famous for its half timbered houses and excellent seafood restaurants.

The site is close to the seaside resort of Carnac with its world-famous standing stones, and the pretty yachting resort of La-Trinité-sur-Mer.

Do not expect peace and quiet

Le Lac
Great location next to a lake and river in a very beautiful area with sandy beaches. Loads of cycle paths and tracks giving great access to Carnac and the Quiberon Bay Area. The owners have invested in the site with a new toilet/shower block and the pool looks to have been refurbished. It looks like the site will continue to be improved. We have a 7m motorhome and it took a bit of manoeuvring to get on our pitch which was a decent size once we were on. Anything 8m or over will probably struggle. There seem to be water taps at all the electric posts. The electricity was a bit iffy with the voltage frequently falling below 200V. The site description says peace and quiet. Do not believe it. Many of the surrounding properties have dogs which frequently bark and howl together for long periods even at night. One neighbour held a very loud all night party 😡 I feel sorry for the site owners who are investing in the site which could be fantastic but it is spoilt by antisocial neighbours.

A very pleasant little site, ideal for a quiet, off-season holiday

Le Lac
We visited for 2 weeks at the end of June 2022 so our impressions are based on that. Pitches by the lake are now taken up by mobile homes (apart from 3 hard to access pitches). Fortunately these are on a lower terrace so some of the pitches in the middle of the site have partial views over to the lake. Most of the middle pitches would only fit a motorhome or a 2 berth caravan. There are some longer pitches suitable for caravans 7.5 to 8m. All pitches are delineated by hedges of varying density. The end of the site is taken up by mobile homes, many of which are owned by French families.A continental socket adapter would give more choice of EHU. Although only 6amps we had no problem keeping water on 1kw and running a microwave and kettle. The central water point was out of action but there are taps behind some pitches. We rarely had neighbours so I used the one behind ours as a “serviced” connection most of the time. There are 2 old wash blocks that were closed and possibly due for replacement. However, there is a brand new central block with individual cubicles for wc, shower and washbasin. There are some more behind reception. These were always very clean, though we used our on-board washroom most of the time. There are still washing sinks and a washing machine at the rear of one block and chemical disposal at the front. Rubbish and recycling are at the entrance. Reception is open from 9am and takes orders for bread and croissants. It also sells ice creams and a few tinned groceries. The swimming pool is very new and has lovely views over the lake. The water depth is on 3 levels from toddler splash to waist deep to 1.7m for swimming. We stayed outside school holidays so the pool was always quiet with no ball games or splashing. There were plenty of sunbeds. There is a small playground for young children and a lovely collection of goats in a pen. There are pĂ©tanque pitches but no other sports. The site is next to a large lake which formerly powered a tide mill. You can walk or cycle around the lake and then follow the lanes for 3km into La Trinite sur Mer. The only noise is occasional frantic barking from a distant kennels. This was never enough to upset us or spoil our sleep. Insects were very active when it was hot but there is no indication that the lake is a source of mosquitos. The final approach road is narrow but very quiet. Access is controlled by a barrier that requires a code to enter. Note that “taxe de sejour” is payable in cash when you leave. I recommend asking reception to lock the barrier open when you leave as it came down on my caravan while exiting! The location is ideal for visiting the beaches and the megalithic monuments of the area. There is a Carrefour City in La Trinite that sells almost everything you need. For the full gourmet supermarket experience, Leclerc at Auray is only 15 minutes away. It also sells (relatively) cheap fuel.
