Well kept, quiet. relaxing site

L'Orangerie de Beauregard Villedomer
We visited in July 2022 just before high season Warm friendly, helpful greeting at reception The site has an area for tourers which is very shaded and another area with plenty of sunshine though the pitches around the edge are shaded in the morning or evening, depending on location. Each area is served by fist class toilet and shower facilities We had a premium site in the sunny area with electricity, water, fridge, table, charcoal barbecue and 2 deck chairs . Decent size pitch slightly spoiled by mole damage which made the surface uneven under the awning flooring Visiting outside high season meant that the bar had limited opening. The shop was poorly stocked (though there is an excellent shop in Villedomer). We were disappointed at the lack of choice on the restaurant menu The swimming pool is a good size but doesn't have all the slides/shutes etc which many children love and which are found on many French sites During the week we were there, there was one small night market on site and a wine tasting conducted by the owner The site offers table tennis, basketball/five a side court and boules There are plenty of walks and cycle routes from the site and its within easy reach of many of the Loire's main chateau (Amboise is a particular joy) and some of the best vineyards in France

What a hidden gem of a site?

L'Orangerie de Beauregard Villedomer
Our final week of an eight week tour was spent at L'Orangerie de Beauregard and we would seek to heap praise on Tim & Jane - especially as their site only opened three years ago. They along with their team have got it spot on for the camper; caravanner or motorhomer with the culture they bring to the running of their site; the ambience they have created and the high quality facilties they provide. We had taken a wrong turning when approaching the site and by chance but Tim spotted our UK number plate and offered help, merely saying that we should follow him as he worked at the site - what a blessing that was!! Tim's & Jane's "can do" attitude and helpful approach to all scores points with us as they clearly put their clientelle first! The swimming pool is outstanding with its access ramp and while the menu in the restaurant is not wide ranging, the quality of the food and the surroundings were excellent. In the region as a whole, there are many many opportunities to explore chateaux and other places of interest; to carry out wine tasting; canoeing on the Loire etc, and so couples, families and groups of friends are spoilt for choice with activities ..... and would find a truly warm welcome if they based themselves at this campsite. We can only wish the Team well with their efforts to provide an even better site in the fullness of time. It was great while we were with you and we would like to return!!

Lovely traditional rustic French campsite set around a fabulous château.

L'Orangerie de Beauregard Villedomer
Quintessentially typical French campsite. Approached via a long drive almost 500 metre long bordered on each side by ancient oak trees. It has a very natural appearance where the pitches have been set out to blend in with the facilities and give it a rustic feel. Predominantly British holiday makers make full use of this particular location. Centred around a large château and its many outbuildings the facilities are generally good although in some may be looking a little bit tired. Pitches are generous in size with plenty of trees to give welcome shade when needed. The estate around the Château is quite heavily forested as a result you are back to nature especially with the abundant wildlife including a number of creepy crawlies!! Plenty of nice walks leading from the site through the woods into the surrounding countryside and local villages. Facilities on site include two toilet blocks and a third one when the side gets really busy, nice courtyard around the side of the Château with restaurant, reception, games room, washing up facilities and cafe / shop. Bread and croissants available every morning if pre ordered the previous day. In addition down by the swimming pool there is the ‘Orangerie’ with its bar which opens late afternoons and evenings. As previously mentioned the site has a very relaxed atmosphere about it and whilst we were there was not particularly busy which suited us. Split into two sections with one side is very much a picture setting in amongst the trees giving very welcome shade, on the other side a little bit more open and closer to the play areas, swimming pool and surrounding facilities. Plenty of places to visit within easy travel distance including Tours, Amboise and Blois plus many of the Loire’s famous château. If you’re looking for pristine hedge trimmed hedge bordered pitches with nicely mown grass and proper made up roadways then this is not for you. For us it was perfect and reminds us of some of the sites when we first came to France in the 80s and 90’s. We love it and will return.

First visit to this New Campsite

L'Orangerie de Beauregard Villedomer
As stated this brand new Castel site lives up to its reputaion. First class facilities based around chateau and grounds. Swimming pool restaurant and bar all lovely as are toilet blocks. Tim and Jane owners are hard working and hands on and deserve support. Camp site was starting to get busier early July and had lovely atmosphere. Restauerant menu limited but food and atmosphere excellent. No hesitation in recommending to others. Pitches are large and vary between shade and non shade so may be worth stating preference. Club allocation of pitches had been used up so we had to book direct and were in e mail contact with owners. Only slight hitch we had was that due to phone reception card payments were a bit hit and miss and we had to have several attempts at paying. Village is very nice and has good bakers Supermarket with butchers and a tabac and pharmacy. Wine tasting by owners is highly recommended. Andrew

Excellent New Site

L'Orangerie de Beauregard Villedomer
Opened in 2018, this is a fabulous site and one which we will use regularly in future. The previous reviewer has accurately described the layout and facilities and having eaten at the restaurant I can confirm the food is excellent. We arrived on a Monday so experienced the evening market on site which includes a pizza van, a mobile bar selling local wines and beers and a couple of other stalls selling local produce. Tables and chairs are provided so you can sit next to the market and eat/drink with fellow campers. A great way to meet people. The pitches are big and whilst there is shade around the edge of the pitching area, the central pitches are in full sun. Trees have been planted between pitches but it will be years before they provide shade. Although all the EHUs are new the polarity is reversed so take an adaptor if this is a problem for you. Access is relatively easy, just aim for Villedomer and then follow the blue signs from the village.
