Why stay here ...

Set amid lush countryside at the crossroads of the Atlantic Coast, the magnificent Pyrenees and the Basque Country, Beau Rivage is a peaceful site with excellent facilities. In the high season enjoy freshly made pizzas to take away or have a drink in the outdoor bar area. The site has recently changed hands and is now run by a friendly young French couple.

Trees and bushes provide natural shade on the pitches, and facilities are very clean and well maintained. The river Gave D’Oloron  which runs directly below the site is ideal for fishing, canoeing and rafting. Locally produced wines available to buy at the reception.

The ancient bastide town of Navarrenx, classed as one of the "most beautiful villages in France", is just five minutes’ walk from the site: the weekly market on Wednesdays and the museum are worth a visit. Keen cyclists will also enjoy riding through the quiet lanes around the campsite, while the river Gave d’Oloron is ideal for fishing and canoeing.

Very enjoyable stay

Beau Rivage
Warmly welcomed and allocated a good size pitch with shade. Facilities were very good, hot water always available and good laundry facilities, including an iron with board. Centrally located for visiting local villages and some very good walking in the area. Five minutes walk into Navarrenx which had a selection of bakers, bars, restaurants and Carefour Express. Free WiFi which actually worked well.

Very Accommodating

Beau Rivage
We were travelling back from Portugal & had 2 nights pre-booked here but were making such good progress decided to forego a planned overnight stop & arrive here a day early to give us the whole weekend & a longer break from driving. Phoned ahead to ensure availability &was assured it was fine. It had been a long day so we settled for the on site pizza & used the little bar that is set up in a small caravan while we waited. Very pleasant site run by Clara & Stephane who are very helpful & friendly & speak very good English. Local town of Navarrenx is interesting but restaurants are 'pricey'. Facilities are well kept. On site pool is open 9am to 9pm Would recommend. My Garmin Tourer 2 sat nav had been spot on throughout our 5 week trip but had a little 'blip' here...... so word of warning, set the address to that of the Piscine Intercommunale, 7 Allée des Maronniers, Navarrenx, France. It will take you to the entrance of the site.

Charming Site

Beau Rivage
Stayed 25 nights in May 2019. Very helpful English speaking staff. Beautifully laid-out site with trees, shrubs & grasses. Level pitches. All big enough for car, caravan & awning. Some pitches with plenty of extra. space. Some pitches hard standing, some pitches grass. Sanitaires always clean.Toilet seats.Toilet paper provided. Open-air unheated swimming pool. No road noise or other similar disturbances. Site convenient for access to small historic town. About 50% of customers British. Richard makes excellent pizzas on site for take-away or join other campers in the marquee.Low season Friday evening.High season six nights a week.

Charming site with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff

Beau Rivage
My wife and I stayed here for six days towards the end of September. Our holiday had been severely mucked up as my wife had a broken foot in plaster and was very immobile, but the welcome, practical help, advice and support from Richard and Wendy, and Alydia and Chris, was simply outstanding. The pitch we were given was the closest to the toilet and showers, if a bit awkward to access, and the landscaping, trees, shrubs and woods below the site, all made for a very pleasant overall location. In addition the very close proximity of the bastide of delightful Navarrenx, and virtually on the level (a blessing for the pushchair we rented from the local pharmacy), meant we were able to access the cafes, restaurants and most of the other facilities in the town centre. On Sunday the owners provide a superb Coq au Vin lunch in the marquee, with an aperitif, wine and dessert - very jolly and excellent quality. I think this is one of the very best campsites we have visited in France or Spain, despite its modest size and no on site cafe. But the charm, friendliness, character and location all justify the very high rating. We will be back.

Simply Beautiful

Beau Rivage
A wonderful site, friendly from the offset, next to a lovely walled town with great facilities. Great pitches and setting. Will definitely return. White water rafting in the river from the company just outside the site. Terrific!
