Don't expect too much

La Bella Vista
The beautiful location and the glorious weather (most of the time) should make this one of the best caravan sites to stay on in Europe. However be prepared for small pitches, many with unlevel surfaces so make sure you have decent wheel ramps. Be prepared to park your car in the car park and not have it on your pitch if you have a large rig. We also had a group of noisy neighbours made up of several families playing music loudly and adults shouting across the site to find where their children were - many people were not happy about this and were like us very pleased when they finally left the site. All of our neighbours over 2 and a half weeks were smokers making us put up with their smoke wafting over our pitch, not a very nice experience especially when eating outside our caravan. Most also had dogs (nothing wrong with that if they are properly trained) but many were 'yappy' and managed to start barking competitions when they saw another dog or heard one bark which at time occurred very regularly. Although we were not told before we arrived we soon found out that on Friday, Saturday and Sunday there are loud music and singing events in the bar/restaurant. Many caravaners like us left the site and when out for meals just to avoid these 'surprise' events. Having said that they did appear to be popular with those who attended them. Facilities are adequate. Many showers have broken locks and a bit of maintenance would not go amiss. We people who had stayed at the site since it opened about 10 years ago who said the standard of the site had slipped over the years and would not be going back again. This is however a very popular site and usually fully booked so loosing a few customers every year won't really matter as there are many others for all around Europe who will fill the vacant pitches. All in all we were disappointed with this site but as I started with the location is great, right on the beach and easy access to all sorts of places. There is a great beach bar just a few metres away which we found was an excellent place to go on a Sunday evening when the music was at its loudest. This site just did not work for a middle aged couple looking for a quiet, relaxing time. Not a site we would put high on our list for revisiting. We are aware though that it is obvious by its popularity it suits many caravaners and motorhome owners.

Always nice.

La Bella Vista
We have stayed here 3 times now and really enjoy the place although as time goes by you can see the maintenance standards starting to slip with shower lights flashing, toilets continuously flushing and the cleaning lady not doing as good a job as before. Having said that it is still a cracking site with the young guy in the bar really nice and great entertainment on a Sunday afternoon. Out of the back gate and turn left for an easy stroll into the picturesque Duquesa port where there are plenty of bars and restaurants.

Loved it!

La Bella Vista
Not sure if the previous people went to the same site! We went here after our first site Valdequeros and we’re impressed by how tidy and well maintained the pitches were. Lovely palm trees and hedges all clipped. Showers very modern and clean. On every Spanish campsite there is a slight drain smell in the showers! The beach is on the door step. Lovely walks along a path that goes both ways out of the campsite gate. We had a walk to the port. Supermarket (Eroski) just a short walk away. Beach is not as nice as further down south. Black gravel/sand. Staff on site very helpful and friendly. Very good stocked up shop on site, had Lurpak butter, our favourite : ) .In the winter seemed to be mainly British customers. There was some weekend entertainment. Otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Disappointed

La Bella Vista

Very disappointed with this site. Not only did we get charged the premium price by caravan club, when the site itself had reduced their prices. found this site to be poorly maintained. The plots had not been tidied for many months. The showers and toilet area although are cleaned are not maintained and the drains smell badly. Dog excrement was left on the path next to reception and not cleaned away over a few days. Only good thing going for this site is its location. The entertainment is okay, quiz good. Would we return. I certainly don't think so. The chemical toilet facility has certainly not been cleaned and maintenance was poor. No wonder there was a fly infestation....

Response from the Club:

The Management team have been notified of your review and they are currently investigating the issues raised. They have advised: “We endeavour to provide a high level of customer service and satisfaction and sincerely apologise that recently we may have fallen short of these expectations and our usual high levels of service. Immediate action will be taken to ensure that the maintenance of pitches is investigated and improved alongside implementing the installation of dog waste bins and bags. We value customer feedback and will use this to make improvements. Thank you and we do hope you will return to enjoy another holiday in the sun with us soon." Louise Morgan - Director

So much potential - don’t book based on the Photos

La Bella Vista

First thing - those photos must be from 2011/12 when the camp was first built, all the vegetation is much more grown around the pitches and trees provide the shade, also a lot of long term stayers with full pitch awnings. We are touring so not booking in advance, at reception with two dogs we were advised the price was €37 a night! However it had so many good reviews we wanted to give it a go but I was a bit taken aback so checked online and they had an offer for €18.60 a night. So I stood in the reception and booked two nights on my phone for €36 plus €12 for the dogs (a charge I don’t fully understand as there are absolutely no facilities for dogs, not even complimentary poo bags). So that wasn’t a good first impression as we felt they had tried to rip us off on the price. However, the site has a lovely pool area, direct access to the beach, laundry at a reasonable price and lovely toilets and showers, that with a bit of maintenance would be perfect (shower head need replacing and fixtures are starting to rust). The restaurant is the nicest we have seen on a campsite however the food was possibly the worst we have had since we left the U.K., my lamb skewer was tough and so salty it was inedible - I took it back to the Moho, washed it off and gave it to the dogs and my DH Hd the four cheese tagliatelle But it was totally overwhelmed by the blue cheese that he didn’t finish it. If you do stay take a short walk along the beach to the left - there are a number of excellent restaurants to choose from. On that note, don’t expect golden sands, the beach is more like grey gravel. The pitches are fine and separated by hedging and tree but ours didn’t get a speck of sun, all the plants and trees are much more fully grown than the pictures. There are a lot of long term stayers but they are very friendly but out All in all I’m a bit torn, it had all the ingredients to be a fantastic stay but someHow it just wasn’t.
