First Camp Åhus-Kristianstad

Why stay here ...

First Camp Åhus is situated just outside of Kristianstad on the east coast of Skåne. It's in the middle of a vast pine forest and has direct access to the long sandy beach. It has been a popular seaside resort since the 19th century for Swedes wanting to relax, walk and cycle in the forests and enjoy the beach, with beach football and handball tournaments being held here yearly.

Onsite there is a playground for the kids and even a tree top course, a small shop and a restaurant which is open in high season. Åhus town centre can be reached by walking or cycling to visit the museum or the Absolut Vodka factory exhibition and there are many interesting excursions in the region. Kristianstad is located 20kms from the site and has shops and restauants. Other days out include Tosselilla Sommarland - a large amusement theme park with go karts, segways,zip lines, bumper boats and a waterpark is just one hour's drive from the campsite.

Alternatively the medieval Glimmingehus castle situated inland from Simrishamn is the best preserved in Scandanavia with it's thick stone walls. They also host tours and activites on site such as jousting and you can join in workshops using old style tools. The site is perfect for a beach holiday, cycling around the many small lakes in the area or relaxing a few days before exploring the rest of Sweden.
