Review Standards and Guidelines
In addition to our website terms of use, the following standards and guidelines apply to our website reviews, which are posted on our UK Club campsites, Affiliated Sites, Certificated Locations and European campsites pages and include a star rating (1-5).
We value reviews as a useful tool to help members and guests make booking decisions and for providing constructive feedback back to ourselves and our campsite partners.
By submitting a review, you agree to these standards and guidelines.
We ask that:
- Reviews are respectful and constructive: Offensive or abusive comments are prohibited. Please be polite towards staff, property owners, and other Caravan and Motorhome Club members and guests. We have a duty of care to our staff and will remove any review that violates these guidelines, including those that single out staff members by name. If you have a complaint, please contact us directly following our compliments and complaints process.
- Reviews are based on personal stays within the last 12 months: Only submit reviews for campsites you have stayed at. Do not rate or review a campsite if you have not stayed there; such reviews will be removed. Reviews should be current, as campsites may change over time (e.g., facility upgrades). We will remove outdated reviews.
- Each stay allows one review: You may write one review per site, per stay.
- Reviews are not used for complaints: Please direct complaints to the appropriate department via the contact us page. We reserve the right to remove reviews that are better addressed as complaints.
- Third-party company issues are directed to the company: Complaints about third-party companies (i.e. products or services not associated with the Caravan and Motorhome Club) should be addressed directly with the company. You are responsible for the content of your review and may be liable if you exaggerate a complaint or provide a dishonest account.
- Reviews focus on the property, not contact issues: Reviews about being unable to contact a site or receiving a delayed response are not considered valid descriptions of the service provided and will be removed.
- Reviews focus on property experience, not solely on policies: While it's helpful to be aware of site policies (e.g. arrival times, cancellation policies), negative ratings based solely on these common travel industry policies are unfair and will be removed. We will publish reviews that describe substantial customer service interactions or details about your stay that go beyond the stated policies, as this experience may be helpful to other travellers.
- Reviews are based on first-hand experiences: Reviews must be based on your own experience. We do not allow information attributed to a third-party. We will remove reviews that contain:
- Quotes or descriptions from the media, the internet, or individuals not in your travelling party. This includes, among other things, food ratings, news stories, or social media posts.
- Information received from a third party after your experience with the property.
- Exceptions: The following information is acceptable, as long as it pertains to your experience:
- Anything communicated to you by The Caravan and Motorhome Club or campsite staff.
- Opinions or experiences of those in your travelling party.
- Minor references to recommendations from other travellers encountered during your stay.
Finally, your review must relate directly to something that you or your travelling party experienced. For example, we would not publish a review that stated, “Another guest I met on site told me that the staff had been rude to them.” We would publish a review that stated, “Another guest I met on site told me that the facilities were excellent.” The guests must have experienced the site at the same time as you.
