Elddis is part of the Explorer Group with sister brands, Buccaneer and Xplore. Elddis began life in the 1960s by entrepreneur caravan designer and builder Siddle Cook, who launched his caravan business just outside County Durham, using his name spelled backwards as the brand we know today.

The Elddis brand has grown over the years, buying in Buccaneer and Compass in the 1990s and launching Xplore in the late 2000s.  The Group become part of the Erwin Hymer Group in 2017 and two years later in 2019 joined Thor Industries' Global Family of Companies.  Today Elddis is still based in Consett, County Durham.
