an excellent site

Oaklands Farm
We have used this site on several occasions. It is within minutes of junction 16 on the A1M but is very quiet with a pretty outlook. There is a friendly welcome, plenty of space with hardstanding pitches , but levelling blocks are needed. It is ideal either as an overnight stop of for a longer stay. We will return again.

Agree with all the comments. Would deter to visit here again which is the highest compliment. This site is immaculate. Only 1 thing to raise, which is the chemical waste. It doesn't drain too quickly and is shallow and fairly exposed so some splash back.

Perfect for Ferry Meadows

Oaklands Farm
This site is perfect for visiting Ferry Meadows without the expense of the CAMC fees. Having bikes the cycle ride to Ferry Meadows was very straight forward. NCN12 runs directly from the campsite and goes all the way to the outskirts of Peterborough where it meets up with the vast array of cycle paths around the city. We didn't venture into Peterborough as we have visited the city many times. We also followed the NCN12 to Huntingdon. Unfortunately the free Cromwell Museum is closed on Mondays. There wasn't an awful lot to see in the town, but the cycle ride there and back took us through some lovely villages. Set up on our arrival at the site was easy. We were met by the owner who directed us to our pitch (one of the two at the top of the field). The water point is before you get into the camping field, so being a motorhome we filled up before we pitched up. We were on a slight slope - but were able to use our blocks. Being adjacent to a hedge we had numerous small birds flitting about in the hedgerows, plus flocks of redwings in the fields. We also spotted a couple of Red Kites flying overhead. Just down the main road from the site is a public footpath across the fields. We did a 4 mile looped walk on our first day which was lovely. We cycled into Stilton one evening for a meal in The Talbot. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great - especially as the Calcutta Cup was on the TV. My nation won! The village is just over a mile away, and as the main road isn't that busy we felt perfectly safe cycling there and back. The site is situated not too far off the A1. We only JUST heard the distant rumble of traffic. I suppose it depends on the wind direction. All in all we enjoyed our stay here.

Quiet weekend away.

Oaklands Farm
Easy to find and easy access, we are in a long twin axle. Nice tidy site, on a slope so good for views, all pitches are fairly level hard standing shingles with plenty of space around. Two smaller pitches at the top and a few bigger pitches at the bottom. All pitches have a great view over the fields. Very quiet especially at night. The fresh water is at the top and the chemical toilet at the bottom, at least it works in your favour for the empties going up and the full ones going down and it's not that far, just a few steps. EHU, but I had to lower our amps down to 15amps otherwise I blew the trip, everything worked fine even the heating. Good walks and bike rides. Great Fish and chips from the mobile van in Folksworth on a Friday from 16:00-20:00 https://howeandcofishandchips.co.uk/location/folksworth/

Couldn't have been much better

Oaklands Farm
The title says it all really. From booking through to access to the site to the pitch itself and the general amenities the whole process was hassle free. We arrived via Stilton village, the only concern really being the turn into Church Street, which poses a slight problem due to the general store and Post Office being situated near the corner and cars parked either side of the road. Once through this and onto the site, the access is down a well signed stone gravelled drive (clean) to the house and farm buildings. Stop outside the house as requested and once introduced to the pleasant owner find a vacant pitch from those available. The site has 2 pitches at the top end and 5 others at the bottom to choose from, on hardstanding and I believe that in summer you can pitch on the grass if wanted. The water is at the top next to the farm building but the Elsan is at the bottom. Waste bin (just the one for everything) is at the top and waste water into the hedge. It provides 10 Amps. Input your EHU and turn the dial to activate. The site is now ADULTS only. We were "blessed" with high winds during our brief stay as the site is a little exposed but has beautiful countryside views. Shops can be found at Yaxley just a few miles away and in Peterborough. There is a large Tesco and M&S Foothill at Serpentine Green shopping centre about 4 miles away. The site is easily accessed from the A1 and would make an ideal stopover. Whilst we are dogless the owner did say that there are plenty of walking opportunities from site for any owners of pooches. There is virtually no passing traffic so quiet (apart from the wind). Red Kites, Owls and Hares can be seen with luck from the site itself. The owners were splendid and will happily tell you about places to visit. Our only disappointment was that we hadn't thought of coming to this site before. Hope to be back soon and will make a diversion to be there if somewhere in the area again.
