Lovely Site

Stayed here for 10 days at the end of August 2018. Highly Recommended Owner met us on arrival, was friendly and helpful. Site is split into 2 sections, which I believe is 1 part CL and 1 part commercial site. Each have 5/6 pitches. Main entrance to both is via locked gate, key provided facilities are clean and good standard, 1 shower, 1 toilet cubicle, 1 urine cubicle, plus washing up facilities. In 10 days I only had to wait for the shower on 1 occasion. Walking distance to small retail park, which,as well as shops, (including Aldi and Tesco) has a cinema and restaurants. Pub also nearby. Park and Ride for Chester a short drive away. Lots to do in the area. Chester is a must and all of North Wales is within driving distance. Would definitely use this site again

OK but not great

Site is a ring of 7 hard standing pitches (although there should only be 5 occupied since it is a CL site). Spent 4 nights here in November and hard-standing pitches are very level which is convenient for wintering camping. It is very close to the motorway and the main road A55 which makes it an ideal stop over or for trips to Chester as park and ride is really close. You can hear the road from the site but it is not too loud that it kept us awake. Directions from the club instruct you to take a left at the chapel but this is set back from the road and you don't see it until it is too late, especially in the dark, so watch for this. Shower is available but is a bit of trickle and is relatively clean but costs extra (20p for 4 mins) so bring 20p coins with you or you will have to chase the owner for change. Lights in the toilet block flickered a lot when we were there and sink was unusable as the light above it had gone. Water is a short walk from the CL circuit and is poorly sign posted. Same goes for the Elsan point -- needs better signage. There is no grey waste drain they recommend you dump it into the hedge which is not great for the ecosystem which is disappointing. Electricity is a serious issue, and at breakfast time and tea time there wasn't even enough electricity available to keep our fridge running even with the heaters turned off so we had to switch to gas. There really ought to be a better way of policing usage as this was quite uncomfortable at times. Also there appears to be more than 5 vans at any time hooked up which makes matters worse. Owner was nice and helpful but probably wouldn't stay here again unless some of the issues were addressed.

Cheat

People say what a lovely CL. Caravan Club, definition of a CL five vans Max! Main area had seven vans plus three adjacent  to the main site, all using the same facility's, One shower one toilet. Can't use your English bus pass down the lane because site is in Wales. Regarding site club should reassess site, clearly not a CL.

Nice people to stay with!

Lovely clean campsite. We enjoyed our stay. It is close to local amenities but quiet enough to relax. Barry was very friendly. We phoned for a pitch the night before we traveled and left a message on the answerphone. True to his word, he rang back early next morning and emailed us information within 10 minutes.  Would visit again when we are in the area.
